DES MOINES, Ia. – A blank document from the Iowa Department of Public Health has been discovered online, designed to be filled in with the name of an H1N1 virus victim who is required to relocate from his or her home to a quarantine facility. The form, which began appearing today in e-mails and on the Internet, has concerned a confused public already swimming in conflicting reports about the severity of the swine flu and intrusive government measures that many fear may be taken if the disease becomes a pandemic. The Iowa document, which WND confirmed with state officials is...

Unfortunately, the first two installments of this were lost in the server move debacle a few months ago. It all started with a top-down coordinated effort by the Obama transition team, teachers unions and public education officials to tell the youth of America why the new president was the coolest kid on the block. Taking the cue like a perfect union automaton, my daughter's 5th grade teacher then sent an email detailing the bash (including a potluck brunch!) they were going to have for the inauguration, complete with the lesson plans distributed by Team Lightbringer. Had there been big elementary...

Charlie Rangel's ethics problems have continued to multiply, as it's been revealed that for years, he has failed to disclose substantial assets (something like half his net worth) on his financial disclosure forms. The House ethics committee is investigating, but has done nothing so far. This is on top of Rangel's tax troubles; he failed to report income on a Caribbean villa and paid back taxes (but no penalties or interest) when caught by the IRS.(Bryon York)notes that House Republicans are trying to embarrass the Democrats by introducing legislation codifying the "Rangel Rule." The bill would grant ordinary taxpayers the...

Thousands of people have signed an online petition hosted by the British Government to remove the late Ted Kennedy's knighthood. The petition's creator Stephen Clements says he started the petition because he claims that Kennedy supported the IRA. "Ted Kennedy throughout the 70's and 80's actively supported groups whose sole purpose was to financially support IRA families," he said. "This support enabled the IRA to continue its muder (sic) campaign against UK citizens for a longer period than would otherwise have happened and contributed to the number of deaths on both sides. "It is highly unlikely that the US Government...

I need some advice about a legal matter that has visited me from the past. I just went down to renew my drivers license in California, and when I talked to the DMV clerk she told me I needed to call Alabama because they put a hold on authorizing my renewal. The clerk gave me a phone number to call, and a half hour later I was in touch with the Alabama DMV.First you need to know that I have been a California registered resident since 1988, and never had trouble renewing my drivers license. Now, when I contacted the...

At the gravesite of Senator Edward Kennedy on Saturday, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the former Archbishop of Washington, shared a private letter that the deceased Senator wrote to the Pope. The Cardinal also read what he described as a response from the Pontiff. This marvelous bit of political theatre (as so much of Senator KennedyÂ’s funeral was), should not escape attention. That moment in particular revealed a great deal. First of all, it must be recalled that Cardinal McCarrick has a rather unfortunate history involving the delivery of letters, particularly those from a certain Vatican official by the name of Ratzinger....

How Did We Come to This? Robert Benne During last week's biennial Church Wide Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the church affirmed major policy recommendations to allow for the blessing of same-sex unions (which practice will soon inflate to same-sex marriage) and the rostering of gay and lesbian pastors in partnered relationships. Earlier in the week it also passed by one vote—out of over a thousand total votes cast—a Social Statement on Sexuality that admitted there was no consensus on the moral evaluation of homosexual conduct, and offered no compelling biblical or theological reasons to support the...

Responding to the concern that setting up a government-run public option insurance plan would inject politics into American health care, public option backers are saying, “Right. And that’s a good thing.” A recent Washington Post article reports, “Economists in this [pro-public option] camp say a public option would not under price insurers so as to drive them out of business; political pressures from medical providers would restrain Congress just as it is restrained today from limiting Medicare rates too much.” The article adds, “And the [public] option's pricing powers would be limited by political pressures against driving too hard a...

Congresswoman: August health protests just a 'YouTube phenomenon' By Michael O'Brien - 09/01/09 01:27 PM ET The boisterous protests that plagued lawmakers' town hall meetings in August were primarily a "YouTube phenomenon," one Democratic congresswoman suggested Tuesday. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said that many of the outbursts at town halls have been manufactured, and accused the Republican National Committee (RNC) of "trying to put fear in seniors' hearts" in a new television ad to air in Florida. "Mostly we're dealing with a sensational reaction as a YouTube phenomenon," Wasserman Schultz said in a conference call organized by the Florida...

Mybarackobama.com Page Planned Phone Campaign on 9/11 Against 'Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists' On Health Reform By Tim Graham Created 2009-09-01 15:41 On Sunday, Jonah Goldberg at The Corner [1] forwarded a shocking page from the Organizing for America website (mybarackobama.com) that promoted setting aside 9/11 as a day to call Senators to pass a Public Option as they “fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists.” They also suggest conservatives are "the heirs of yes, bin Laden." Will the major media notice? So much for No-Drama Barack Obama uniting the country in hope and change. The Heritage Foundation blog The Foundry...

The international community, with more than 100,000 troops in Afghanistan, does not have an exit strategy and will stay committed for the long term, Sweden's foreign minister said Tuesday. "There is no time line, it is clear that no one has an exit strategy, because we have a transition strategy," Carl Bildt, whose country is currently president of the European Union, told AFP. "It is vital that Afghans have the confidence that we will stay," he said. The emphasis of the foreign presence was shifting, he said, from military action against Taliban-liked insurgents, to training Afghan security forces and helping...

Britain is facing the prospect of widespread power cuts for the first time since the 1970s, government projections show. Demand for power from homes and businesses will exceed supply from the national grid within eight years, according to official figures. The shortage of supplies will hit the equivalent of many as 16 million families for at least one hour during the year, it is forecast. Not since the early 1970s when the three-day week was introduced to preserve coal has Britain faced the prospect of reationing energy use. The gap between Britain’s energy needs and demand throws fresh doubt on...

Calls Dismissal of New Black Panther Case “Corrosive to Rule of Law” An August 10, 2009 letter sent to Attorney General Eric Holder by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, contained a stinging rebuke to the Obama Department of Justice (DOJ). A footnote in the letter states that the explanation for the dismissal of a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (NBP) “is even more corrosive to the rule of law than the dismissal without comment.” The DOJ filed a lawsuit in January under the Voting Rights Act against ...
