Anyone who posts comments on the White House’s Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Twitter pages will have their statements captured and permanently archived by the federal government, according to a plan that the White House is now seeking a contractor to carry out. The Executive Office of the President is looking for a private contractor to capture and archive comments and information posted on social networking and new media sites where the White House has established a presence. While the Presidential Records Act (PRA) generally requires that the administration preserve information generated by the president and his staff, the White House...

A former attorney for Toyota has accused the automaker of illegally withholding evidence in hundreds of rollover death and injury cases, in a "ruthless conspiracy" to keep evidence "of its vehicles' structural shortcomings from becoming known." The explosive allegations are contained in a federal racketeering suit filed in Los Angeles by Dimitrios P. Biller, former managing counsel for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., who claims his complaints about the company's legal misconduct cost him his job.

From the Virgin Mary grilled cheese to the mother Mary burned into a potato chip, you've probably heard it all when it comes to her alleged diety appearance on everyday objects. Now a Northland man claims Mother Mary has materialized in the distinct lines of a Lake Superior agate. 26-year old Jesse Bradshaw been searching for agates throughout Northern Minnesota for at least the last decade. "These little chips of agates here, they're all clues to what lies beyond. You know the big ones are in here," said Bradshaw. For this rockhound, the hunt is just as rewarding as the...

Michael Jackson’s final home, as of Thursday, is even stranger than his Thriller video, sitting atop 13 stories of secret catacombs housing Satanists and gypsies. Diane Dimond tours the tomb. ----------------------------------------------- There are fewer places more beautiful than Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California. But this otherwise majestic place sits atop some dark secrets, ones that, as of this Thursday, Michael Joseph Jackson will rest upon as well. I was able to glimpse an advance peek at the King of Pop’s eternal throne, and the reality is stranger than his Thriller video, sitting atop more than a dozen floors of...

The so-called Station Fire, which now covers more than 120,000 Southern California acres and is burning largely uncontained, continues to threaten the century-old Mount Wilson Observatory, home to astronomer Edwin Hubble at the time he made his landmark observations of the universe's expansion. The observatory is currently unmanned due to the fire threat and the attending smoke, but a webcam atop Mount Wilson's 150-foot solar tower has provided observatory managers and concerned observers with a view from the scene. At 12:55 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) the camera showed a great deal of smoke but no flames. ...According to the Los...

The left loves to pride itself on its defense of “choice.” Unfortunately, the only choice they seem to actually believe you should be able to make on your own is the choice to have an abortion. If you decide to–gasp–have a child, then, in the eyes of the left, it’s up to the state to make your decisions for you. “It takes a village” and all that. Why do we bring up that particular point? Well, let’s talk about swine flu. As much as the media is freaking out about swine flu, we’re actually pretty even-keeled over the whole thing...

Spies Among Us by: Brittany Fortier, September 01, 2009 The world of espionage has been full of danger and intrigue, but today it draws criticism from those who question both the capabilities and usefulness of intelligence gathering. It seems the American Left it still in denial as to the extent of the danger posed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. John Earl Haynes and Harvey Klehr, authors of the new book Spies: The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America, had the opportunity to study the notebooks of Alexander Vassiliev, a former Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti (KGB) officer...

The auto industry temporarily awoke from its slumber last month thanks to the U.S. "cash for clunkers" offer, led by a 17% sales jump at Ford Motor Co. that further highlighted the performance difference between it and Detroit rivals General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.Ford's gain was also helped by its trucks posting the first year-over-year sales increase in nearly three years. Meanwhile, Chrysler's 15% decline was in part due to a lack of inventory--most of the company's plants sat idle for almost three months as the car maker dealt with its bankruptcy process.GM, meantime, reported total sales of...

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs may have slipped in yesterday's daily briefing when he referred to "our war on terror" in response to a question about the current situation in Afghanistan. This morning he was asked why he used the Bush-era term, since the Obama White House quickly abandoned it after the president took office. Mr. Gibbs simply responded, "We're focused on getting the strategy right." The phrase -- coined by President Obama's predecessor after the September 11th attacks -- has not been used at all by the current White House, whose budget referred instead to funding for "Overseas...

TRIPOLI - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was guest of honor at a military parade to kick off six days of festivities in Libya marking 40 years since Muammar Gaddafi took control of the desert country in a bloodless coup. What is wrong with the following sentence? Congress wrote the Kennedy-Dodd health care bill while meeting in Washington on the backs of envelopes. Hint: there are at least two correct answers. I have written many posts about the Kennedy-Dodd health care bill. There is only one problem. I learned Saturday, courtesy of The Wall Street Journal, that what we all thought was the Kennedy-Dodd bill, isn’t the Kennedy-Dodd bill. It seems that after the bill was released to the public in June, on July 15, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, under the “leadership” of Sen. Dodd (D....
