The auto industry temporarily awoke from its slumber last month thanks to the U.S. "cash for clunkers" offer, led by a 17% sales jump at Ford Motor Co. that further highlighted the performance difference between it and Detroit rivals General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.Ford's gain was also helped by its trucks posting the first year-over-year sales increase in nearly three years. Meanwhile, Chrysler's 15% decline was in part due to a lack of inventory--most of the company's plants sat idle for almost three months as the car maker dealt with its bankruptcy process.GM, meantime, reported total sales of 246,479, down 20%, falling 17% at retail outlets while fleet sales slid 29%. Overall car sales fell 4.6% while truck sales dropped 31%

Sometimes the central planners in all their wisdom just can’t deliver. This is shaping up to be one of those.
Sometimes?
After eight years, I think it’s appropriate to say...
It’s Obama’s fault!
Anyone remember British Leyland? Anyone remember the Triumph Spitfire?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Obama’s UAW bailout, didn’t.
Government Motors and FiatUSA not doing well.
More problems for the Baraqqi coalition.
Ready. Fire! Aim.
Dopes.
Obama vs. The Invisible Hand
(my money’s on the hand)
Aren’t just proud of Americans? I am!
Why would be buy cars we already own and bought twice?
I guess no one wants a vehicle from Obama Motors (Government Motors (GM)).
Obama was raised in Indonesia, he just doesn’t understand American pride and patriotism.
1. Forced takeover of Ford because it is unfairly competing against UAWFiat and Government Motors.
2. Outlaw imports and sink their ships out at sea unless they are UAWFiat or Government Motors imports.
3. Bomb foreign owned plants in the US. Union plants will be given warning and a chance to sell out to UAWFiat or Government Motors. Non-union plants will get what they deserve.
4. Apologize for any confusion over whether UAWFiat plants are foreign owned and write it off as collateral damage.
This is government at its best.
I do not agree with the CARS program, but the plan should have been announced with details of what vehicles qualify followed by a few months for the manufacturers to build-up inventory.
Instead, we have a program that kept changing after it started and resulted in moving foreign-made cars far more than domestic models.
Well heck, they could get lucky
With all the screwups so far in this adminstration, where they have actually made things a lot worse than if they had done nothing, you begin to wonder, are they doing this intentionally to harm the nation?
“Sometimes the central planners in all their wisdom just cant deliver. This is shaping up to be one of those.”
And I thought that all that free market stuff was all bunk! /s
The one silver lining is that I find it entertaining when libs glaringly prove Milton Friedman correct, and they are providing ample opportunity to be entertained. I wonder if they can hear a faint echo of his “I told you so” from beyond the grave.
