A former attorney for Toyota has accused the automaker of illegally withholding evidence in hundreds of rollover death and injury cases, in a "ruthless conspiracy" to keep evidence "of its vehicles' structural shortcomings from becoming known."
The explosive allegations are contained in a federal racketeering suit filed in Los Angeles by Dimitrios P. Biller, former managing counsel for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., who claims his complaints about the company's legal misconduct cost him his job.

Well one difference now is this: How can they rely on a fair trial when it’s federal prosecution in a federal court and 2 of their competitors are at least partially owned by the federal gvt?
Wow, talk about opening a can of worms!
Oh please...If this is about the Toyota Land Cruiser, those things are no more likely to tip over than your average bicycle...
“Biller’s lawsuit also notes that he has a separate wrongful termination claim against the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office,”
Generally people fire whistle blowers.
Exploding GM truck gas tanks was a hoax perpetrated on the people by the disgraced head of NBC "News". They attached toy rocket engines to the gas tanks for ignitors and then rammed the trucks so that the tanks ruptured. The last I heard that liberal weasel was the editor of a newspaper in a small Iowa town. He should be in jail for that kind of fraud.
“A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don’t do one. “
Sounds to me like Government Motors is paying someone to rat out the competition, especially since the clunkers program proved to be such a bust for GM and Chrysler.
One has to wonder how many reports on GM and Chrysler defects will slip out now that Uncle Sugar runs them?
Based on obvious evidence and not media-generated crap, I probably will never change my preference.
This whole story reeks of a disgruntled former employee who has an ax to grind over his termination due to his incompetence.
Since when did we use attorneys from car manufactures to discover defects. Over zealous ambulance chasing attorneys have a purpose and will flush out things that aren’t true and even some things that are true from time to time.
What I find amusing is the number of Freepers that take Toyota’s side without question....eerily similar to some people we know who support Obama..
I don’t know if this story is true or not, but to blindly dismiss either side is not reasonable.
