Are you a union member trying to find out information of the criminal actions and shady financial dealings of your union? Well don’t expect Obama and his toady in the Labor Secretary’s office, Hilda Solis, to help you uncover any illegalities perpetrated by your union bosses. Solis’ department has just announced that it is suspending the stringent reporting requirements that labor unions must by law satisfy to assure that their financial dealings are legal and above-board. That’s right, unions have just been given a free pass for criminal actions by this president. This is proof that political donations are the...

Strong emotions and spirited exchanges dominated a packed town-hall style meeting Saturday as a thousand residents from around San Diego County packed into a Spring Valley gymnasium to share their thoughts on health care reform. The meeting, hosted by Rep. Susan Davis, D-San Diego, elicited boisterous responses from both sides of the debate with people frequently interrupting speakers with applause and cheers. “This is personal and emotional and everyone deserves to be part of the process,” Davis told the crowd. The congresswoman, who supports President Barack Obama's health care reform and held a similar town hall meeting in Hillcrest earlier...

Gennaro “Jerry” Angiulo, who ruled Boston’s Mafia with an iron fist for two decades, died today, sources have confirmed. Angiulo suffered a broken hip earlier this month while fighting a losing battle with kidney failure. The ex-gangster was 90 years old. Angiulo had returned to his compound in Nahant upon his release from prison in 2007 after a 21-year stint behind bars for his 1986 conviction on federal racketeering, loansharking and illegal gambling charges. The reign of the former New England La Cosa Nostra underboss was ended by his rivals in the South Boston Irish mob, James “Whitey” Bulger and...

First up from the God Machine this week is a new push from evangelical religious groups to kill health care reform. Conservative Christian groups on Wednesday (Aug. 26) ramped up opposition to health care reform, saying the current system "has problems" but "it is working." Members of the newly formed Freedom Federation, comprised of some of the largest conservative religious groups in the country, say they oppose taxpayer-supported abortion, rationed health care for the elderly and government control of personal health decisions. Mathew Staver, who heads the legal group Liberty Counsel and is dean at Liberty University's law school, said...

Household income in the United States is essentially stagnant, raising doubts about whether consumers already hurt by job losses can sustain an economic recovery. The now-ended Cash for Clunkers program helped lift consumer spending last month and is expected to deliver a bigger boost in August. But any economic rebound likely would falter if shoppers lack the income to spend more in the long run. Especially in the U.S., consumer spending is essential: It drives about 70 percent of economic activity — more than for most European nations and well above the rates in developing countries such as China. U.S....

After enduring the CIA's harshest interrogation methods and spending more than a year in the agency's secret prisons, Khalid Sheik Mohammed stood before U.S. intelligence officers in a makeshift lecture hall, leading what they called "terrorist tutorials." In 2005 and 2006, the bearded, pudgy man who calls himself the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks discussed a wide variety of subjects, including Greek philosophy and al-Qaeda dogma. In one instance, he scolded a listener for poor note-taking and his inability to recall details of an earlier lecture.

Unfortunately, I cannot attend the Tea Party Express on September 12 but at this time I'd like all PP's (Patriotic Participants) to accept my sincere thanks now for what I know will be a successful event. I decided that the least I could do was to come up with some imaginative protestor signs. Once I started to come up with slogans, I couldn't stop. So here's my list - please feel free to add to them, critique them and foremost - use them as you see fit. TARP bailout - $500 billion Stimulus bailout - $787 billion Automobile industry bailout...

Many Americans, beyond the relatives of the victims of the 270 people killed, when Abdel Baset al-Megrahi blew up a jetliner over a Scottish town are furious about his release from a Scottish prison and the warm greetings extended to him when he arrived in Libya. The TV cameras showed the gala reception, Qaddafi hugging Megrahi, and Megrahi kissing the Libyan despot. Libya's leader then praised his "friend" British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the British government on Thursday for what he called their "courage" in allowing Megrahi's release. "To my friends in Scotland ... I praise their courage for...

[SNIP] IS THE SITUATION LIKELY TO ESCALATE? There are concerns that if the fighting intensifies, other members of the alliance could enter the fray and provide a serious challenge to the Myanmar army, resulting in fierce fighting and heightening the risk of a refugee crisis for China. The Wa are widely regarded as a formidable fighting force, with at least 15,000 armed members, but they are not involved, yet. The Shan State Army, which is outside of the alliance, might also seek to capitalize on the instability and strengthen its own position in the region. Analysts say a lot is...

The British government decided it was “in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom” to make Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal. Gordon Brown’s government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards. The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely critizised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's list of cabinet nominees reveals a determination to fill the top positions in Iran's government from a coterie of loyal men, plus three women, many of whom are strongly linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). Under Ahmadinejad's previous administration there was a distinct militarisation of politics: many ministers, as well as ambassadors, mayors, provincial governors and senior bureaucrats, were drawn from the guards. Ahmadinejad himself is widely associated with the IRGC, but in an interview his adviser insisted that the president had never been a member and was present only "when necessary" (although when pressed the adviser...

Subject: Why Jerks Exist Date: 2009-08-28 Why Jerks Exist Dr. Laura, I teach high school and am getting ready for another year. I have had the pleasure of listening to you over the summer, and have been a listener for over ten years. I do my fair share of step-parenting to many kids that seek my advice. There are days I'm hosting my own version of the Dr. Laura show when kids come in at lunch time or after school to discuss dating and parent dilemmas. I have a particular niche with high school girls with a poor or no...

El Marco graphically exposes organizing for America's fraudulent bullying tactics in Denver. Shocking but true, opposition to Obamacare is being squashed and consent manufactured by the White House and Obama activists. Although the White House denies their single payer goals, that seemed to be the main message at the rally in Denver, where the message was carefully controlled.

Heather Lawrence didn't know the name of the girl with the Muslim head covering, or where she was from. But as Lawrence walked by a classroom at Springstead High School on Wednesday, the 16-year-old junior did know one thing: The girl wasn't standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. Lawrence, an JROTC member who plans to enlist in the Army next summer, says she was aghast. "That's one of the most disrespectful things you can do," Lawrence recalled Friday. "Even the kids who are anarchists, who hate our government, still have respect to stand." A few bells later, Lawrence was on...
