IC Teens Arrested in Pizza Delivery Man Robbery By Daren Sukhram

IOWA CITY - Two teenagers are charged in the July 25th robbery of a pizza delivery man.

Iowa City police say at 1:05am on July 25, they received a report of a robbery that had just occurred on Regal Lane. The victim, a 39-year-old Domino's Pizza delivery man, was making a delivery when he has rushed from behind by ten to fifteen people, assaulted, and his pizzas taken. The victim described the suspects as black males ranging in age from 10 to 25 years old.

An investigation uncovered the mostly juvenile members of a self-identified street gang, "Broadway Goons", used a cellular phone to place an order with Domino's Pizza.

The suspects were lying in wait for the delivery man and ambushed him when he exited his vehicle. The victim was struck in the head and the hot bag containing the pizzas was taken. The suspects fled through the neighborhood.

Lamar Cheyenne Wilson, 15, and Osean Donteale Horton, 14, are both charged with 2nd degree robbery and criminal gang participation.

Both juveniles were taken into custody on August 20 and transported to the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.

The police investigation continues. Charges on additional suspects are pending.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of any additional suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.

Police have also connected several members of the so-called “Broadway Goons” street gang to a July 25 robbery.

Iowa City Police officers responded to 15 emergency calls to the area of Lakeside Drive and Regal Lane at 11:12 p.m. Aug. 5 after callers reported hearing four to five gunshots in the area. Witnesses told police a group of 25 to 30 teenaged men and women were walking on Lakeside Drive near Regal Lane. The group, which witnesses said was agitated, continued to Fairmeadows Park. Witnesses then heard the gunshots coming from that area.

Witnesses told police the group then fled east and one member of the group appeared to have a gunshot wound to the arm. No victim ever came forward; however, Iowa City Police Sgt. Troy Kelsay said their investigation is leading them to the victim, who police have yet to confirm was actually shot.

That’s because Domino’s teaches drivers not to resist robberies. And everyone, including the robbers, knows it.

Augh. Damn you. You just reminded me that I forgot to grab lunch at Imo’s last time I was in the STL.

Oh, and it’s St. Louis Bread, not Panera Bread.

Grawr.

The young creeps have become bolder since Obama became alleged POTUS . Seems like everyday one reads of gangs of blacks attacking ( mostly ) whites - even just for pizzas or the hell of it .

Most pizza companies violate employees constitutional rights to bear arms for self defense as a condition of employment and these teen age thug wannabe’s know that.

No offense to Iowans, but I have to admit, when I hear about teens causing trouble in Iowa City, I tend to think that maybe cows got tipped or something...

Doesn't sound like "Music Man" country anymore...

The problem with the Juvenile Justice system is that they know that they will get a light sentence and then they’ll have “street cred” (credibility as real “gangstas”). They do this for respect and actually enjoy going to jail so that they can gain respect with other want-to-be thugs after they get their slap on the hand as juveniles. I think they should make juvenile criminal offenses automatically punishable by prison up to 21 years of age in a Japanese style prison system that teaches extreme discipline and respect with a psychologist overseeing as warden.

Imo’s Pizza, and listening to Cardinals baseball on the radio, with Mike Shannon and (the late) Jack Buck announcing: the two things I miss most about St. Louis. ;)

The great Jack Buck and earlier, St. Louisan (NOT Chicagoan), Harry Carey provided the soundtrack to my early life.

Hey what about:

- Steak N Shake

- The St. Louis Zoo/Forest Park.

- The Italian Hill.

- The U City Loop

- St. Louis Cathedral Basilica

- The old Admiral.

- Ted Drewes.......

That isn’t violating anyones Second Amendment rights. It is a voluntary contract between the drivers and the Pizza Chain.

Not a smart decision on the part of the driver.

Usually they don’t identify minors, but I have no objection that they did it in this case.
