Barack Hussein Obama will propose a massive business tax on greenhouse gases in his FY 2010 federal budget to be presented this week.
The massive tax increase and power grab was buried at the end on article on Obama's forthcoming budget proposal in The New York Times:
On energy policy, Mr. Obamas budget will show new revenues by 2012 from his proposal to require companies to buy permits from the government for greenhouse gas emissions above a certain cap. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the permits would raise up to $300 billion a year by 2020.
Since companies would pass their costs on to customers, Mr. Obama would have the government use most of the revenues for relief to families to offset higher utility bills and related expenses. The remaining revenues would cover his proposals for $15 billion a year in spending and tax incentives to develop alternative energy.
The proposal is in keeping with a policy announcement candidate Obama made in 2007, as reported then by The Times:
"No business will be allowed to emit any greenhouse gases for free," Mr. Obama said in Portsmouth, N.H. "Businesses dont own the sky, the public does, and if we want them to stop polluting it, we have to put a price on all pollution."
Obama famously said in 2008 he would make American citizens' electricity rates skyrocket under his plan:
"What I've said is that we would put a cap-and-trade system in place that is more -- that is as aggressive if not more aggressive than anybody else's out there, so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.
"When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know, under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.
Regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, they will pass that money on to consumers. If you can't persuade the American people that, yes, there's going to be some increase in electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term because of combinations of more efficient energy usage and changing lightbulbs and more efficient appliances, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy, that the economy will benefit. If we can't make that argument persuasively enough, you -- you can -- you can be Lyndon Johnson, you can be the master of Washington, you're not gonna get that done."
Obama, of course, has no intention of persuading the American people, he's going to ram his Marxist agenda up their tailpipes.
Sooner or later that one particular headline is gonna appear . . .
So, he’s still hell bent on doing in the coal industry, even though current consensus is that global warming is no longer a threat?
That's exactly what it's all about.....Control...
But just not over every sector of the economy, but every facet of our lives.
This SOB will take us all down. A massive tax increase on business, in the middle of a recession we are too sickened to start to calling a depression?
We are trapped in a lifeboat with a deranged man. who has started to smash apart the boat,,,,
America is the earth’s lifeboat nation,,,there is no place left to flee to.
It's not Hussein. Hussein is just the idiot figurehead leader of the party. You could put Democrat X in place of Hussein and the policy proposals coming out of the White House would be identical. For us to bitch and whine about this is pointless. We knew this was going to happen,if not so much so soon. Short of winning back a majority in Congress there is little we can do.
Is the government going to have to buy carbon credits?
More to the point: Will the Office of the President have to pay carbon credits for all that 747 pollution?
Or does the Messiah own the sky?
I love how Obama’s plan to cut the deficit is heavily dependent upon the release of greenhouse gasses.
Because this has nothing whatsoever to do with CO2, glowbull warming, or saving the planet. This is a tool designed to aid in wealth redistribution. Period.
The latter. It's a number that justifies, "We have to do all we can," without accountability or efficacy, otherwise known as "selective and situational enforcement."
Yep!
It isn't illegal to file for an extension is it? What if millions of people filed for extensions and just kept making legal excuses to put off paying?
Bottom line is that the GOP has to have leaders that will take up the cause of the people who pay taxes and start fighting the class war against the lazy sons of bitches who voted for a socialist and are now being rewarded by him.
Why the GOP does not counter attack in the class war is dumbfounding, it's a one way street.
The message to taxpayers should be to give yourself a W-4 tax cut today and send Hussein an IOU on April 15.
My point is that CO2 is a normal, natural part of living processes. The damn politicians have no business labeling it as a "pollutant" and trying to destroy the economy by taxing it.
Good! Every time he opens his mouth he should have to pay!!!
Ask any dairyman. That has already been proposed!
Sure, why not? It wouldn't be difficult to do. They just come up with a scientific evaluation of the average amount of flatulence created by eating a specific quantity of beans, broccoli, etc. and levy the tax on those products.
It's just a darned shame that it will hit vegetarians and vegans more than meat eaters but, as VP Biden said, "it's time to be part of the deal."
SOILENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
