Judy (hmmm?) Woodruff just had a report that Karl Rove had offered Nebraska Sen Ben Nelson the post of Secretary of Agriculture. Nelson is up in 2006...and facing a hard race from popular GOP Gov Mike Johanns. Nelson is among the most conservative of Senate Dems..Does this make sense, because Nelson votes with the GOP on most of the key issues..?
If anything, it is the RATs who need to be worried about defections. With 55 seats, we are going to be in power for the forseeable future. That encourages the likelihood not only of defections, but also of incumbant RAT Senators retiring rather than accepting extended Minority Party status.
Face it. We are in excellent shape in the Senate, and barring a cataclysmic event, we have the House locked up at least until the next round of census redistricting next decade.
There seems to be a lot of confusion here about her politics..like on abortion..can we get it clarified?..To me.any thought of her switching might have more to do with how she assesses her future..look..possibly10 more years in the House, in the minority, ain't no fun..noways..here's a real wild assed thought..she switches NOW..gets some visibility in the House..maybe a choice committee..even let her chair a sub-committee..she puts in 2 terms...then TADA..runs AGAINST Timmy in '08...go ahead..poke holes in THSAT!!!

Probably wishful thinking on their part.
The worst one ever..Robert STRANGE McNaMara..( was EVER a man more aptly named..?)but your argument proves your analysus..
They could put Osborne in Nelsons seat and lock it up until Osborne retires or dies, Nebraskans never will forget or vote against the legend.
The Dems are really starting that total meltdown.
Why not; the moderates can see the writing on the wall with those neoMarxists running the party into the ground like that.
Snow, Chafee, and Collins will surely vote with the GOP this time; you don't go where you get nothing.
I don't care whther Nelson or a Republican runs the Ag Dept. I do care that the GOP gain another Senate seat.
what happened to the 100th senator?
You ARE referring to John, not TeddyBoy, right...
=====
OMG, you needed to ask??? (chuckle)
I think poor ole Teddy will go down in history as the one of the drunkest, nastiest, corrupt, criminal Dems in history. Albiet, he has ALOT of company of like stature...
How about offering Energy to Mary Landrieu? Does Louisana have a Republican Governor now? And Rove could offer the Secretary of Defense job to war hero John Kerry. Mitt Romney could then appoint a Republican to the Senate seat. Rove might also have some jobs up his sleve for Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. That would give Arnold a couple of Senate seats to fill.
I agree, putting Tom Osborn up would lock the seat up either until he dies or retires, People in Nebraska will never forget him.
I don't know what her ambitions are, completely. She's on the record as being pro-choice. She's also on the record as having generally a GOP outlook on everything else. Of course it's wise to remember that Daschle at one time was the same way, and look what happened to him after a few terms in DC.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious to our worried friends here..The advanatge to adding a 56th senator now is that it makes the magic number 60 easy to visualize..the point can then be made to many Dems ..well..OK.if you want a hard fight..we'll give you one..but why risk your seat..you're gonna lose anyways..
BTTT!!!!!!
And he's way to short to run for POTUS in four years (sorry, it's a cruel world Ben).
Way to go Rove!
That's a real streeeeeetch. Landries csn't eb trusted...the two that are closest to the GOP are the pair from Arkansas...I think Lincoln might go if she were allowed to keep her seniority..
Louisiana has a Democrat Governor right now.
