Twitter reinstated the account for the Young Conservatives of Texas organization following a two-day suspension. Twitter claims that the account was suspended by a “spam filter” that is built into the platform. According to a report by Campus Reform, the Young Conservatives of Texas had their Twitter account suspended for two days without explanation. The account was quickly reinstated after a reporter reached out to Twitter to inquire about the suspension. The organization claims that its Twitter account was shut down on Wednesday. In an email about the ban, Twitter told the organization that “unusual activity” on the account led...

Student demands for censorship get a lot of coverage. Spiked Online’s Free Speech University Rankings, now in its third annual edition, argues that there is a “crisis of free speech on campus”. By analysing the censorious policies and actions that have taken place on British campuses, Spiked concluded that 63.5 per cent of universities actively censor speech and 30.5 per cent stifle speech through excessive regulation. You can barely go a few days without encountering a new op-ed covering censorship on campus.

When I was in grade school, I remember going to birthday parties at the local bowling alley. Before the games would begin, the workers would install bumpers inside the gutters in order to prevent gutter balls and avoid "failure." When I was growing up, it was common for sports teams to award trophies to all the players so no little kid would have his or her feelings hurt at the end of the season. Today, there are school districts which no longer give out "F'" grades, and hundreds of high schools have removed class ranks so that my generation...
  • Conservative Conference Beset By Accusations of Pro-Gay Takeover, Muslim Agenda

WASHINGTON -- Allegations of a pro-gay takeover, boycotts, embezzlement and terrorist-loving board members. Sounds like a Hollywood version of a conspiracy thriller, but it's not. It's the buzz around this year's Conservative Political Action Conference, the nation's single largest annual congregation of conservative leaders. Conservatives riding a new wave of momentum thanks to the strength of the Tea Party movement and big wins in the November midterm election should be riding high ahead of this year's CPAC,scheduled to take place in Washington on Feb. 10-13. But the conference, which has met for 38 years, has found itself beset by conflict...

This young man makes some brilliant and funny videos regarding social issues. You must see all of his videos. I'm posting the one on socialized medicine (he is from Canada, so he knows about that business) His abortion video is hilarious, as funny as abortion can be anyway. In other words, he makes great points while making you laugh. I hope he reaches a lot of young people.

Members and alumni of The Young Conservatives of Texas were pleased to read in today’s Daily Kansan that students at Kansas University are forming The Young Conservatives of Kansas. {Jack Hutsey, Wichita junior, officially founded the Young Conservatives of the University of Kansas on Sept. 4, a week before the group’s first public outreach effort. “Right now, the conservative voice is just a whisper on campus,” Hutsey said. “We just want the liberals to know that we’re going to raise our voice. They can have demonstrations and rallies, and so can we. It’ll take time, obviously, but we’ll have small...

An unusual Nativity scene is drawing some curious looks from passers by on the UT campus. The scene features a gay couple, Gary and Joseph, instead of Mary and Joseph, a terrorist as an angel and Lenin, Stalin and Marx as the three wise men. The scene is built by the Young Conservatives of Texas, who say what they're calling an "ACLU nativity scene" includes positions taken by the American Civil Liberties Union. "The idea is to bring attention to the ACLU and also to bring attention to the issue of taking down nativity scenes during the christmas season or...

If, as President Bush said last year, it is to be “liberty’s century,” the members of the Fourteenth Generation are the appointed guardians. The first chapter of Matthew’s Gospel opens the New Testament with a genealogy. It is a Christmas list -- not a wish list, but a Providential list. It is the outworking of God’s Hand in the generations through history, culminating in the birth of Christ. Matthew 1:17 summarizes the genealogy. “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying...

“Every morning, I get up, get out of bed, and get on my knees and thank God for waking up in America,” declared Ben Stein at the Young America’s Foundation Conference in Washington, D.C. The actor, comedian, and writer reflected upon America’s increasing prosperity, which is often criticized by the liberal media and Hollywood elites. Stein praised America’s role as the leading engine of free enterprise and free trade for the whole world. “Free men and women are able to live up to their full potential,” said Stein, “and we continue to see the astonishing power of letting hardworking men...

The Democratic Party continues to play the race card for political gain. The Reverend Jesse Jackson steamed into Ohio, the so-called battleground state that went for Bush, claiming that Ohioans' votes failed to count. "The playing field is uneven," said Jackson. "...We as Americans should not be begging a secretary of state for a fair vote count. We cannot be the home of the thief and the land of the slave." Remember the claims by John Kerry and others of one million black voters disenfranchised in Florida during the 2000 presidential election? Peter Kirsanow, a black attorney and member of...

Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 The Right's New Wing Diverse and well funded, the next generation of conservatives is winning battles on campus. But not all are fighting for George W. Bush By JOHN CLOUD Earlier this month, a group of students met in Washington to bash George W. Bush, debate the power of multinational corporations and hear a speaker who denounced the Iraq war, the Patriot Act and stricter airport security. A leader of these college kids calls them "the new counterculture," but here's the thing: they aren't liberals. The 185 students were in Washington to attend the 26th annual...

Red, white and blue colors cover the screen on MTV's website as the words appear, "The last election was decided by 500,000 votes nationwide. In some states it was decided by 50,000 or 5,000 or 500. In the last election, 18 million young people voted. What if that were 20 million? Who's swing voting now?" The same network that has given us "The Osbournes," "Punk'd," and "Total Request Live" also contributes to the seriousness of politics by delivering "Choose or Lose," the current MTV campaign to mobilize 20 million young voters in November. "Choose or Lose," launched in 1992, brought...

The Texas A&M football team has just finished a dreadful season, going 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Big 12 conference, including a 77-0 humiliation at the University of Oklahoma. Texas A&M's athletic director, Bill Byrne, has a novel theory as to why his school is suffering athletically. He blames the Young Conservatives of Texas A&M, a student group, which held one of those "affirmative action bake sales": "Free speech is not an issue for me, and differing political beliefs are not an issue for me, because I believe that reasonable people can disagree. But I'm disappointed over the national...

I've desided to compile a PING list for conservative youths/youths at heart. This list is for those of us still (trapped) in high school, junior high, or college; but everyone is welcome to join up. It will be for those concerned with academia or any other issues pertaining to or relative to the cares of young conservatives or youth in general. Got a kid that enjoys FR or lurks? Now's a great time to introduce them. I'm a senior in High school now, my mom (FR alias worrywart) introduced me to this place years ago and i've been a member...

The Young Conservatives of Texas target professors over ideology By Sharon Jayson AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Friday, October 31, 2003 A University of Texas student group has put the names of 10 faculty members on a watch list designed to warn students about professors that the group thinks push a political agenda in their classrooms. UT's chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas created its Professor Watchlist in time for spring registration, which began this week and continues through Nov. 7. The group distributed the list Thursday at a West Mall table. The list also is posted on the group's Web site....

How young conservatives got their groove Young conservatives achieved prominence on campuses across the nation by zooming in under the radar. Now they've even made the cover of the New York Times magazine, the bastion of politically correct liberalism. The Times limited its focus to one campus, Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., and that's too bad. The politically correct armies of Mailer-lite are in retreat in a lot of other places as well. Tenured liberal professors who have dominated campus politics since the 1970s haven't been knocked off their pedestals - not yet - but moss is spreading at their...
