Harvard University hosted graduation celebrations for certain identity groups in 2023 but excluded Jews. The now-deleted "Affinity Celebrations for Graduates" page on Harvard's website boasts events for "Graduates with Disabilities," "Indigenous Graduates," "Latinx Graduates," "LGBTQ+ Graduates," "Arab Graduates," "Black Graduates," and more. "Affinity celebrations are student-led, staff supported events that recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of graduates from historically marginalized communities," the web page stated. "These University-wide celebrations provide an opportunity for graduates to honor those who have helped them achieve their milestone while centering their cultural traditions and values." According to the website, the celebrations "are made possible by...

I do voiceover work on the side, and I'm getting to the point I am booking some work. I want to redo my existing website, which was all hand-coded in HTML ages ago. Can anyone recommend user-friendly software for web design? I've got a host and DNS referrals in place... just want something more professional than what I have at the link. Thoughts?

I am sure SOMEBODY is going to complain something about my posting this, but I have always gotten good computer advice from FR. I am getting started in voice acting, and have a website promoting my talents. Can anyone tell me how to make my main page play a sound file from a list of files? I want to have 20+ comic intros on the site, and have the webpage play one of them, at random, whenever the page is re/loaded. www.everybodyandme.com

I am being told by a representative of Yext.com that in order to change any of my business listings on the internet I have to PAY - that all of this information has been monetized and that information, even if I want to remove to is basically owned by someone else. Is this true? Is there a way I can correct errors in my business info without paying an arm and a leg?

My own observation is that the web page for Kirkpatrick (D. AZ1) refuses any more comments about the border, disease, etc. but will accept comments on other topics. Anyone else experience the same situation with her or maybe a different congresscritter? The uproar must be increasing. What say?

Jonathan Keeler resigned from the Derry Twp. School Board yesterday, saying he hoped to end "unjustified public scrutiny" after school administrators and news media found his sexually explicit personal Web page. Keeler wrote in his resignation letter, sent yesterday morning, that the unearthing of his MySpace.com page was politically motivated. "I dared to challenge the status quo of the Derry Twp. political machine, and this is my punishment," he wrote in the letter. He said he wanted to fight back in what he considers a freedom-of-speech issue, but his wife was uncomfortable.

I have a web site on which I post information about myself and my business. It's a hosted site, and I have my own domain. I've been using FrontPage to create and upload material. I'd like to add a blog to the site, and would appreciate suggestions for software. I'm thinking/hoping I can update the blog without having to worry about overwriting the rest of the web site. Would it involve some sort of FTP transfer? Thanks.

I am using FrontPage 2000. Here's what I would like to have happen: After the page loads, have an image on that page automatically dissolve to a second one (in the same position), then dissolve to a third, or fourth, then repeat back to the first. I know I can add DHTML effects in FrontPage, but the effects seem to work only when the page is loaded, or when mouse-over or mouse click occurs. In my case, however, I would like the transitions to occur automatically, without any action by user. In other words, I would like to have the...

Shocking Photos Show Nurses Abusing Infants Korea's active netizens are outraged about shocking pictures posted on a website that show nurses treating newborn children like toys in an obstetrics and gynecology hospital. A nurse identifying herself as Lee, 24, posted on her homepage on Cyworld about 20 photos of women who look like nurses appearing to treat newborn children like objects. Pictures show a nurse squeezing a newborn's face with her fingers, putting heart-shaped paper on a newborn's cheeks, and apparently placing a newborn in a plastic bag. They also include off-color images of two newborns posed as if...
  • Why would a display-only web page be SSL-encrypted?

I have come across several web pages that do nothing but display information. These pages, however, are SSL-encrypted. That is, their address begins https rather than http, and I see the little padlock icon at the lower right. I could understand the encryption if the page were asking for confidential/personal information. However, the web pages in this case don't do so. What is the reasoning behind the encryption, therefore? What is the downside, in addition to (?) slower performance (?). Thanks.

DENVER -- Doctors who postponed a kidney transplant between two men who met through a private organ donation Web site decided Tuesday to allow the operation to proceed, despite legal and ethical concerns about the surgery. The operation, scheduled for Wednesday, is believed to be the first transplant arranged through a Web site designed to match organ donors with recipients, said Jeremiah Lowney, medical director of MatchingDonors.com, where the two men made contact. Doctors at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center initially postponed the procedure to replace Bob Hickey's kidney as he was in a hospital room with IVs running from his...

MS intros ultra-liberal 'write your own licence' scheme By John Lettice Posted: 09/12/2002 at 05:17 EST When it comes to Microsoft's new-look licensing agreements it's not all downhill, apparently. The texts you have to agree to in order to install Microsoft stuff have been getting tougher, but hey, if you don't like it you can just write your own and sign that instead. No, really! Take a look here, where down at the bottom you will find the EULA for the Windows Driver Development Kit. Select all, then press delete. Now, you can insert your own agreement, haiku, plea...
