Derry school director quits amid flap over his Web page

Jonathan Keeler resigned from the Derry Twp. School Board yesterday, saying he hoped to end "unjustified public scrutiny" after school administrators and news media found his sexually explicit personal Web page.

Keeler wrote in his resignation letter, sent yesterday morning, that the unearthing of his MySpace.com page was politically motivated.

"I dared to challenge the status quo of the Derry Twp. political machine, and this is my punishment," he wrote in the letter. He said he wanted to fight back in what he considers a freedom-of-speech issue, but his wife was uncomfortable.

Apparently, Keeler's MySpace page made reference to oral sex, masturbation and threesomes, and listed "Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll!!!" The man is using the Bill Clinton defense...."What I do in my private life is my business." He doesn't get it that posting it publicly changes that.

Isn't MySpace a teenagers' web site??? I seem to recall my sister advising her daughter about what to and not to post on that site, e.g. personal information.

I don't condone in any way what this perv did, but I have a serious problem here with the school board interfering in a free speech isssue.

However, he resigned which is what he should do based on the pressure put on by the board that no one would ever support him unless he changed his mind.

This man must be an idiot. He sounds like an overgrown teenager. My daughter complained too, when I "found" her MySpace page. But she actually IS a teenager. And no, her page is not like that in any way.
