SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — What takes four years to make and costs more than $20,000? A trash can in San Francisco. That costly, boxy bin is among six trash cans hitting San Francisco’s streets this summer in the city’s long saga in search of the perfect can. Overflowing trash cans are a common sight in the Northern California city, along with piles of used clothes, shoes, furniture and other items strewn about on sometimes-impassable sidewalks. City officials hired a Bay Area industrial firm to custom-design the pricey trash can along with two other prototypes that cost taxpayers $19,000 and $11,000...

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police have arrested a recently celebrated Democratic Party official on several felony charges related to voter discrepancies. The Michigan official who earlier this year received an award from the state’s Democratic Party is now facing six felony charges for reportedly forging records and falsely marking absentee ballots as invalid during the 2018 election, reported The Detroit News. Sherikia Hawkins, 38, city clerk for the city of Southfield, was arrested Monday after the Oakland County Clerk’s office noticed discrepancies in voter counts while certifying absentee ballots from Southfield. State police investigated and found that records...

New school food requirements are going into effect next year, attempting to make school meals healthier. The changes will affect four major areas. First, The Smart Snacks program requires that all sides must be served with something healthy. Second, the school will be required to meet the first target of reducing sodium. Third, all whole foods served must be whole-grain. This year, the requirements are half-and-half. Finally, breakfast must include fruit. This year, students are allowed to choose to refuse two items at lunch if they do not want it, and one at breakfast. New requirements say that they have...

A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested over the weekend for plotting to carry out a bombing outside a strip of crowded Wrigleyville night spots, according to the FBI. They also alleged that Sami Samir Hassoun, of the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, had previously discussed a number of violent plots in Chicago, including a biological attack on the city, poisoning Lake Michigan, attacking police officers, bombing the Willis Tower and assassinating Mayor Richard Daley. But he is only charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted use of an explosive device in connection with the...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The animal rights group PETA is offering to help the cash-strapped city of Colorado Springs by paying to put trash cans back in parks - on one condition. The cans have to carry an anti-meat slogan and a picture of a woman in a lettuce bikini. The city stopped picking up trash in parks to save money, and all the trash cans have been removed. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals told city officials Wednesday they'd pay for new trash cans saying "Meat Trashes the Planet" and "Go Vegan." The cans also have PETA's logo...

HONOLULU - A postal worker discovered a 15-pound opossum moving around inside a trash bin at Honolulu International Airport, the second such animal found at the airport in the past three months, state agriculture officials said. "We're not sure how it got in the trash bin," said Janelle Saneishi, spokeswoman for the state Department of Agriculture. "It is in an offloading area for surface mail. It's possible it came in on a container and somehow found its way to the trash bin." A marsupial native to the mainland, opossums are distinctive for their long, rat-like, prehensile tails which allows them...

Last week, you probably heard all about Newsweek’s inadvertent little faux pas regarding Gitmo, the Noble Qur’an, and a popular porcelain fixture. The story wasn’t true, although the lib/dem/soc/commie media are playing the “let’s pretend it really is true anyway” game. Oddly enough, they didn’t learn their lesson from the last time they tried that (see also: CBS, 60 Minutes, document forgery, etc.) so they trotted it out for another go. Folks are lamenting the 15 to 18 people who apparently died in the ensuing riots. Nobody knows the names of these people so far, or exactly where and how...

Windshield case attracts spotlightMallard trial will focus national media, legal eye on FW courts again06/18/2003By LAURIE FOX and DAVE LEVINTHAL / The Dallas Morning News FORT WORTH – When it comes to trying highly publicized court cases, Tarrant County jurors get plenty of practice. Sensational murder defendants such as Cullen Davis, Diane Zamora and Robert Neville have stood trial in Fort Worth, greeted by a crush of TV cameras and curious courtroom spectators. Legal observers expect the glare of national media – and the challenges that come with it – to return this week as the "windshield case" begins in...

Flicking through the channels a few minutes ago, CNN said that a study was done, and the study finds that CNN has the most believable news than any other major news organization. What a load of BS! Also, they said they have the same viewers, or maybe a slight decline than last year. CNN is evidently not keeping up with current events. (AKA Fox News, Rush, Ann Coulter, etc.) Before anyone says anything, NO! I do not watch CNN news. I guess they think if they tell everyone this, one or two people may start believing it. Thought ya'll would...

How Green is the boardroom? Still not very. But that could be changing soon From a look at the green-toned ads put out by companies such as Ford and the Southern Company, you would think that those in the executive suite spend their days meditating on the wisdom of John Muir and Henry David Thoreau. On the other hand, a look at the day planners of their Washington lobbyists suggests that as soon as these same executives step out of the public eye, they set loose their minions to undo every piece of environmental legislation past, present or future. Ford...

Repent, sinners. Your Macintosh is a tool to promote Godless Communism and anti-Creationist "propaganda", according to an article at OBJECTIVE: Christian Ministries. Dr. Richard Paley, apparently "a teacher of Divinity and Theobiology at Fellowship University," starts out with discussions of the PBS series Evolution and Pokemon, and goes on to say: However, these propagandists aren't just targeting the young. Take for example Apple Computers, makers of the popular Macintosh line of computers. The real operating system hiding under the newest version of the Macintosh operating system (MacOS X) is called... Darwin! That's right, new Macs are based on Darwinism! While...

Check out this piece from 1989...the players are the same, with way more power, now... >>>It is important to think of Rollnet as an international institution separate from, though interlinked with, the government of the United States. Rollnet cadres, such as those central to Contragate, circulated in and out of the official U.S. government. Those cadres-most prominently Oliver North-who had gained influential U.S. governmental positions were in effect using these positions to further their Rollnet cause; the Constitution and laws of the United States were secondary considerations. They equated the goals of the United States with the goals of Rollnet.<<<
