The U.S. Army has selected Sig Sauer to build the service’s Next-Generation Squad Weapon Rifle and Automatic Rifle. This is the first time in 55 years that the Army has broken away from the M16 series of weapons. The new rifles are designed to be more lethal and accurate than previous infantry weapons. On Tuesday, the U.S. Army officially selected a new rifle and infantry rifle for frontline troops. The guns, developed by small arms manufacturer Sig Sauer, have been officially designated the XM5 Rifle and XM250 Automatic Rifle (pictured above). The XM5 Rifle will represent a major departure from...

Washington (CNN) — US Capitol Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested a West Virginia man who was armed with a handgun and 20 rounds of ammunition outside the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, which is near the US Capitol, a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police Department said. He was taken into custody for having a black .9mm Sig Sauer handgun and the ammunition, the report said. The arrest comes weeks after hundreds of rioters stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to stop the Senate's confirmation of President Joe Biden. Five people, including a police officer were killed. Security was...

At ï¬rst glance the SIG P226 air pistol could be mixed up with the SIG P226, which comes in 9mm and .40 caliber, which is a pistol preferred by elite military forces around the world. I can see how their airgun could be used for training purposes and you could do a lot of inexpensive training with a pistol that so closely resembles your real one. The P226 air pistol uses a conventional size 12-gram Co2 canister, which slips into the back of the grip. The magazine pops out of the bottom the same way it would on any modern...

All are excellent weapons for defense, and in some cases offense; they are equally at home in a homeowner’s gun safe or carried as an officer’s sidearm. Here's What You Need To Remember: Locked away behind the Iron Curtain and unable to secure contracts with the Czechoslovakian government, the CZ 75 failed to gain adherents until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Today the pistol is available in an updated form, the CZ 75BD, featuring a firing pin safety, decocking lever and underbarrel accessory rail, and available in a variety of midsized handgun calibers. The bustling global arms trade has...

SIG SAUER is offering an extremely limited number of authentic M17s originally issued by the U.S. Army and fielded during the initial domestic and in-theater deployment of the Modular Handgun System. These unique, one-of-a-kind firearms feature the original coyote controls, the original government-issue markings and serial numbers, along with the U.S. Army specified front and rear sights. As these were fielded by the U.S. Army their condition will vary, making each one uniquely different, and making this truly an opportunity to own a piece of history. The M17 Surplus handgun is a 9mm, striker-fired, P320-based handgun platform, featuring a coyote-tan...

Love it or hate it, the vaunted 10mm has definitely been enjoying a resurgence of late, we also like to shoot and argue about guns. Here are some of the top 10mm handguns out there capable of taming this underrated beast of a cartridge. Colt Delta Elite Colt stepped up in 1987 after the original Bren Ten went out of production and introduced this 10mm pistol. The Colt Delta Elite was for the 1911 followers, re-designed to fire the 10mm cartridge. It was the best of both worlds: a gun worthy for personal-defense but powerful enough to take hunting. Glock...

The US Army on 28 November began fielding its first M17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) sidearms to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, which is to receive about 2,000 of the pistols. The 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas, and “one of the army’s new security force assistance brigades” will be next to receive the M17. The long-running MHS project, intended to replace legacy 9 mm M9 Beretta pistols, was awarded on 19 January with a total USD580.217 million ceiling. The army selected the 9 mm Sig Sauer model P320 as the M17’s basis. The contract also...

Word (from The Firearm Blog) has it that Glocks cannot get over losing the XM17 Modular Handgun System contract to Sig Sauer. More rumors are getting around stating that Sig Sauer was basically handed the contract. The XM17 tests were a huge differences to the M9 tests of the 1980s. The M9 tests were very in-depth,and the results were talked about for years by various gun publications. From reading everything we can tell the 1980s about the M9 project, there seem to be several major fallacies with the M17 test. If we look at the fallacies, the chances of Glock...

A shootout game that utilizes real guns with simunitions. Imagine a new sport where gun fighting slams into mixed martial arts. Fighters and opponents shoot at each other with real guns, and when all the ammo is gone, there can be some mano-mano in your face fighting. In the early years of simunitions development, the military and law enforcements were the only group to enjoy this form of training, until now. You can use your favorite version in Glocks or Sigs 9mm pistols to shoot it out against your friend. Just like paintball, simunitions comes in red and blue. Getting...

Video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNMLO18kl98 Recently a Colorado police officer contacted the BATF to inquire about the legality of firing a pistol from the shoulder when equipped with a Sig SB15 brace. It doesn’t come as a surprise to me that the ATF said it’s perfectly legal to shoulder the “not-a-stock” device when attached to a pistol. I knew it was legal to shoulder the SB15 when it first hit the market as I had researched it years ago when AR15 pistols became popular and people were shouldered the stumpy extension tubes and firing them as if they were really short stocked rifles....

On February 27, 2014, Bearing Arms Editor Bob Owens wrote an article asking one of the more relevant questions extant: “Does the NYPD Have A Training Problem?” Bob’s article tells the story of two rookie NYPD officers who, pursuing a pair of fleeing criminals, fired a total of seven shots and entirely missed the criminal that had turned and fired at them. Unfortunately, the criminal’s marksmanship was far superior and he, firing three rounds, hit one of the officers with all three, once in each leg and once in the groin. The officer is recovering. The NYPD is not publicizing...

I am going to a gun show on Sunday and I have narrowed it down to 4 choices. I am not looking for a concealed/carry model since it will be for range shooting and home defense only. I also am not looking for a higher caliber, 9mm only. Does anyone have and experience/opinions on any of these? any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Since retiring from the military I have been a firm supporter of concealed carry. I am personally a fan of 1911 pistols and have had the pleasure of carrying many different types of 1911.

So, how did YOU shoot today? Getting ready for when TSHTF (The Sh!t hits the fan) and had another great time. I took my friend Ray with me, he's the one with all the hair and we popped off an even 600!! rounds of 9mm personal protection. My focus today was to work on target acquisition and then trying to squeeze off five controlled shots fairly quickly. See pics below to see the best two sets. Then, I worked on strong hand/strong eye, see the black target for one of those sets. Felt REAL good to put holes in that...

He's the star of bulletins chronicling Barack Obama's movements, one of only a few nonrelatives to consistently get time with the Democratic candidate for president and a trusted confidant who has shared some of the most pivotal moments of Obama's career with him. Yet journalists who have followed Obama's campaign for the better part of two years don't know what he looks like, staffers who have logged countless hours traveling with Team Obama didn't even know he works for the campaign and there's never been a story in a major media outlet about him. He is Michael Signator, an aide...

SIGARMS (Dept. ST, 18 Industrial Dr., Exeter, NH 03833; 603-772-2302; www.sigarms.com) is having a very good year. It started last June when the Rhode Island state police completed its transition to the SIG P226R in .357 SIG as its standard duty firearm and reported that since November 2003 approximately 100,000 rounds had been fired through 200 duty pistols with no mechanical failures. This was important because Rhode Island was the first agency in the country to adopt the new SIG DAKtm trigger system--a double action only (DAO) mechanism designed to provide a safe and reliable 6.5-pound trigger pull, which is...
