They had a good run but the show won’t exist without them.

On the other hand, the History channel would be wise to take the idea and run with it.

I am beyond bummed. You’re right. The show doesn’t work without them.

Honestly, how many times can a person watch them throw the cages out and haul ‘em back in while getting splashed with water and ice?

The loss of Phil Harris and the Cornelia Marie was bad but with both sons it became pretty unwatchable with the constant fighting. (Same reason I can’t watch American Chopper)

Hiring one son was fine, hiring two was explosive.

To be honest, the show has played itself out, I mean how much of the same thing can you watch, they should have taken the contract for the 2nd income, times are hard.

I love the show.

The cinematography is incredible especially in HD.

People work crappy non-exciting jobs and enjoy living vicariously through the men featured on Deadliest Catch.

There are also few real men out there these days for folks to look up to. No John Waynes, No Rambos, just a pussy community organizer POTUS.

It’s more than hauling cages in water and ice. It’s a great show. I just like it.

I’m amazed that people actually continue watching these “reality” shows. I mean, it’s all a big act with everybody putting on a show. If it was possible to surreptitiously film people in a work situation without them knowing about it, then I’d watch. Otherwise, the soaps are just as realistic and have hotter looking women

“Honestly, how many times can a person watch them throw the cages out and haul ‘em back in while getting splashed with water and ice?”

Watched it for a couple of seasons and came to the same conclusion. For those that like it, do you really believe that these participants are irreplacable or that there are NO other interesting characters or crews out there?

I watched Deadliest Catch occasionally, but I never really got into it. Now, Whale Wars was a hoot! If you think liberal “organizations” are fun to watch on land, you HAVE to see these libs trying to disrupt Japanese whaling ships. They come off as abaolulutely clueless and bumbling. I LOVE that show.

The captain of that ship has a great job. Endless funding from envirowackjobs pay for his ships and salary. He has access to a crew of adoring and amoral hippy chicks who he gets to bang at will. He also gets paid by for the show, and has to produce and accomplish NOTHING.

And the fake, manufactured, "reality" show controversy and tension?

Had to emotionally detatch myself and stop watching the show when Phil got sick and started nearing the end...

These shows along with “pickers” & “pawnstars” are stretching the concept of a history channel.

I do like pickers & pawnstars though.
