Two all-important demographics, independents and women voters, are heavily breaking towards the Republican Party with just 21 days until the midterm elections. According to a Monday New York Times/Siena College poll, independents, women, and independent women have massively shifted behind Republicans on the generic ballot since September. The poll sampled 792 registered voters from October 9-12 with a 4 point margin of error.

McCarthy and nine other Republicans will be traveling to the southern border at Eagle Pass, Texas, in the minority leader’s second congressional delegation to the southern border this Congress, his office noted.

Nine out of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump over the January 6 riot at the U.S. capitol face primary challenges from America First candidates. Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Tom Rice (R-SC) Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Dan Newhouse (R-WA), Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), Fred Upton (R-MI), Peter Meijer (R-MI), and David Valadao (R-CA) are all under pressure from GOP primary challengers. Rep. John Katko (R-NY) is the only Republican who backed impeachment yet to draw an America First challenger. Katko also worked with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in May to approve a...
  • Log Cabin Republicans: We’re In Contact With Trump Transition Team, Will Protect LGBT Rights

    11/11/2016 11:16:56 AM PST · by ChicagoConservative27 · 43 replies
In a fundraising email to supporters Thursday night, Log Cabin Republicans President Gregory T. Angelo (above) claimed his group — and only his group — can save the LGBT community from President-elect Donald Trump. Trump has pledged to repeal all of President Barack Obama’s executive orders, including those protecting LGBT people. He’s vowed to appoint right-wing Supreme Court justices who could at least partially overturn marriage equality and said he’d sign the horrific anti-LGBT “First Amendment Defense Act.” Both Trump’s transition team and his leaked list of potential cabinet appointees are packed with anti-LGBT extremists in the mold of Vice...

If Rip Van Winkle had gone to sleep sometime in the past five decades and awakened today, he would know nothing about the U.S.-Iran nuclear deal. But he would have no trouble following the debate, because he's heard it before. Presidents, adversaries and the world have changed; the arguments have not. It's no surprise that the Republicans running for president find the accord to be lacking in any merit whatsoever. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker ranked it among Barack Obama's "worst diplomatic failures." Jeb Bush called it "appeasement." Even Rand Paul, who sometimes diverges with GOP hawks, rejects it. Some of...

SAN FRANCISCO -- After Arnold Schwarzenegger replaced a Democrat in 2003 to become California's governor, fellow Republicans were hopeful the former movie hero's popularity would help arrest a long decline here. But six years later, Republican voter registration continues to fall, and now many in the party are pegging their hopes on two former corporate chief executives: Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina. Ms. Whitman, former president and CEO of San Jose-based online-auction company eBay Inc., in February threw her hat into the ring for the 2010 race to succeed Mr. Schwarzenegger when his second and final term as governor ends...

Over at Riehl World View, Dan writes of "Mourning" Joe Scarborough: Isn't it at least a little bizarre that the grand book party for said book would be held at the home of Margaret (so liberal you can't take her seriously) Carlson? And that the guest list (with video) included such notable conservatives as - Andrea Mitchell, Dana Milbank, Chris Matthews, Ana Marie Cox, Norah O'Donnell, Frank Foer, Evan (Obama is god) Thomas, Michael Isikoff and Bill Press? A bit further down, Dan Riehl continued: I'm not going to go on about him, as frankly, I'd probably go over the...

A group of prominent Republicans today announced the launch of the National Council for a New America, a group of “congressional leaders gathering the expertise of national leaders and doers” to “engage with and empower the American people.” Members of the group said they don’t view it as a “rebranding” effort, but any collective effort to re-engage the American people with the party will be viewed as such. “This is not a quote re-branding effort, this is an effort to include as many Americans as possible” to come up with “concrete solutions for our country and our future,” Arizona GOP...

A dissident faction of gay conservatives is launching a rival group to the traditional voice of gay Republicans: the Log Cabin Republicans. GOPROUD, the new 527 group, will launch next week, according to a media advisory. The contact given for the group is Christopher Barron, a former Log Cabin political director who broke with the group. "Essentially, there's no voice for gay Republicans or gay conservatives in particular in D.C. right now. Log Cabin has been completely and totally absent here in D.C. for months and months," Barron said. "It has simply moved way too far to the left and...

DEMOCRATS SOLD OUT AMERICA FOR 30 PIECES OF SILVER By Frances Rice In a moment that will live in infamy, President Barack Hussein Obama fostered upon America a gigantic Socialist Stimulus Bill that will plunge America deeply into the failed Euro-socialist psychosis. Obama conjured up images of the Great Depression to intimidate the US Congress into voting for his $787 billion pork-laden stimulus bill that was crafted in the dead of night by liberal Democrats and read by no member of Congress before they voted the next day. Now, economists are revealing that Obama's Depression analogy is historically false and...

Pouring over the numbers in the Presidential and Congressional elections of 2008, there’s an eerie parallel that deserves far more attention than it’s received. In races for the House, the Senate and the Presidency, the final totals match almost precisely with the results of the last Democratic sweep in 1992. That election gave the Democrats 57 Senate seats to 43 for the Republicans. So far, with three races yet to be decided in 2008, Democrats (and the two independents who caucus with the Democrats) control 57 seats and the Republicans control 40. Assuming that the GOP’s Norm Coleman hangs on...

A growing number of Republican members of Congress yesterday continued the revolt against Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to vote on offshore oil drilling as they sustained their vigil demanding a vote on a “drill and” energy bill. Over 70 members have participated in the events to date, with the number swelling daily. When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi abruptly adjourned Congress last Friday for a five week vacation blocking an up or down vote on offshore drilling before recess, the action caused a spontaneous uprising that smoldered over the weekend, showed renewed sparks of life on Monday and is now threatening...

The Kos Kids are doing that lovable armchair analysis thing again, demonstrating with relentless logic that George Bush Fits Clinical Profile of a Psychopath to a Tee. The research of Dr. Hervey Cleckley and Dr. Robert Hare exploring the personality and character traits of psychopaths, when applied to George Bush, shows that he fits exactly the profile they developed for a classic psychopath. It's uncanny. The study also showed that "Republicanism" as political and social ideology... is even worse than psychopathy. It's almost cute how they periodically try to convince each other that Republicans aren't just wrong, they're hideous psychotic...

You are sitting at home one evening with your wife. You do not have any children. You've been waiting to start a family until you have some of those student loans paid down, so you can give your children the best you can give. There is a knock at your door. You answer it and there is a young woman who is pregnant standing there. She has another baby in her arms and 2 more standing by her. She gives you a voucher and it tells you the following: By order of the US Government you are going to have...

7 people vying to succeed DeLay answer questions in closed sessions Republican leaders from Harris County met in Pasadena Saturday to interview potential candidates for the 22nd District congressional seat that will be vacated by outgoing Rep. Tom DeLay sometime in May or June. The day drew seven hopefuls, who filled out a questionnaire detailing their political history and philosophies, including Houston City Councilwoman Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, state Rep. Robert Talton of Pasadena, lawyer Tom Campbell, who came in second to DeLay in the March primary, state Rep. Charlie Howard of Sugar Land, state Sen. Mike Jackson of La Porte, businessman...

Klansmen were drawn from every walk of life, but the leaders often were from the landholding and professional elite. After a brief flurry of practical joking and pretending to be ghosts, the Klan emerged as a terrorist group dedicated to defeating the Republican party and keeping blacks in "their place" socially and economically. Most southern counties saw little of the Klan, but others were overrun by it for months or years at a time. It tended to thrive where the two parties or races were relatively evenly balanced; in such places, terrorism was most apt to change election results. In...

Christine Todd Whitman and the Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party just don't get it. At a time when Democrats are realizing that their party is out of touch with basic American values, Whitman is bemoaning the takeover of the Republican party by zealous "social fundamentalists." While her memoir It's My Party, Too: The Battle for the Heart of the GOP and the Future of America will be released on January 27, the product description on Amazon.com is disturbing. "Relentlessly pushing their ideological stances on abortion rights, race relations, the environment, tax policy, and go-it-alone foreign policy, the conservative extremists...
