Election Scouting Report Pt 2 (2002 results compared) Unfortunately, we lost another close race in 2002 in Michigan. Turnout is much lower in off year races, so it is sometimes hard to compare, but this can show where many ticket splitters are at. Dick Posthumus lost to Jenny Granholm by 127,692 votes (Bush lost by 217279). Granholm had 51.4%(same as Gore), Posthumus had 47.4%(Bush 46). The rest had about 1-2%. The UP: Posthumus 47685 – 46.66% Granholm 52857 – 51.72% Greens – 1100, Taxpayers(Michigan's name for Constitution Party) - 565 Granholm won by 5172 votes. Posthumus unperformed Bush (who won...

Buoyed by overwhelming support from women, Democrat Jennifer Granholm holds a big lead over Republican Dick Posthumus with just five days before Michigan voters pick a new governor, a Free Press/WXYZ TV poll shows.

ABOUT THE POLL Today's Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll is based on telephone interviews conducted Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with 513 registered voters who said they are likely to go to the polls Nov. 5. Telephone numbers were selected by computer from a complete list of telephone exchanges in Michigan. Within each exchange, numbers were formed by random digits, so listed and unlisted numbers alike were called.

Republican Dick Posthumus has trimmed Democrat Jennifer Granholm's lead in the Michigan governor's race from 12 points to eight in the past week, building on his advantage among pro-life voters and cutting into her margin among union households and working women, a Detroit News poll indicates. Attorney General Granholm's lead is 47 percent to 39 percent, with 12 percent undecided, according to the statewide survey of 400 likely voters conducted Monday through Wednesday. Doug Campbell of the Green Party and Joseph Pilchak of the United Taxpayers Party garnered 1 percent each. The poll's error margin is plus or minus 5 percentage points. A News poll a week ago had Granholm up by 12 points, with 17 percent undecided. Both sides have said all along they expect the race to get closer as the Nov. 5 election nears. An independent poll released earlier this week by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA showed Granholm with a 51 percent to 37 percent lead. The difference, News pollster Steve Mitchell said, lies in when the interviews were conducted. EPIC-MRA surveyed Sunday through Tuesday; Posthumus' support began to rise significantly Tuesday and Wednesday, Mitchell said.

Dick Posthumus, had raised the issue Tuesday in Detroit after the pair's second and last debate. Fiedor Report On the News #291 ^ | 10-13-02 | Doug Fiedor
When the national media honchos wonder why they are losing money, all they need do is look in the mirror. Clearly, they are not even close to producing the type of "news" the American people really want and need. For instance, MSNBC needed a fix to stay solvent, so they brought the old has-been liberal Phil Donahue aboard and gave him a full prime-time hour. Then their ratings hit all time lows and they can't seem to understand why. Even Fox News plays into that game. By being what they call "fair and balanced," they keep a stable of obnoxious...
