Buoyed by overwhelming support from women, Democrat Jennifer Granholm holds a big lead over Republican Dick Posthumus with just five days before Michigan voters pick a new governor, a Free Press/WXYZ TV poll shows.

ABOUT THE POLL Today's Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll is based on telephone interviews conducted Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with 513 registered voters who said they are likely to go to the polls Nov. 5. Telephone numbers were selected by computer from a complete list of telephone exchanges in Michigan. Within each exchange, numbers were formed by random digits, so listed and unlisted numbers alike were called.

"Posthumus"

Sounds like he would be better off if he switched to the Dems and became a replacement for one of their recent dead candidates.

Ditto. The proof is in the voting. Deet-wah thinks its the only city in the state. 'Course if one CHEATS the polls most certainly will hold true come November 5.

Prayer and fasting, people. Only a miracle will help us against dishonesty.

I hate to say it, but all that is left for Posthumus is the sad singin' and the slow walkin'.

Michigan deserves EVERYTHING that it gets!

So does Texas...and then some. ;)

When people think of Michigan they think of Detroit. More's the pity, because it is such a small part of our state with a crappy reputation.

Free Press...just a little liberal.

I never heard of this pollster. 8pt game was the last internal one I've seen.

BTW - Engler was down 12 to Blanchard(INCUMBENT) in 1990 - he won. this is not over.

I hope you are right. My heart says yes, but my head says no.

But I just got back from voting, as I'm going to be out of state next week. The Repub's do have at least one vote so far. :^)
