Posthumus is gaining on Jennifer Granholm. 47% to 52% with 47% of the vote to be counted. Most liberal areas have already been counted (I remember hearing, I don't know where). Detroit News and Free Press have already called this for Granholm.

When I was a senior in high school, I was selected to receive some sort of worthless (i.e. no scholarship attached ;) PhBK certificate. We went to the JLA to pick it up, hear a speech by Granholm, and listen to a (WC3D?) woodwind symphony play a piece John Williams wrote about the Gulf War.
The Williams piece was good, even if he cribbed a lot from Star Wars for it (nothing now for JW). Granholm, however ... well, my dad was pretty sure they had been serving drinks to their guest of honor, and that she had imbibed a bit too much. I had to agree. She was pretty giggly. She said something to the effect of, "Girls, don't let them hold you back!" Having spent years in public education, I knew no one was holding girls back. Working on the feminist plank of her platform, I guess. She also mentioned something about Clinton, getting lots of applause from the assembled students and parents. My hands remained firmly against my thighs. I did applaud Granholm, out of courtesy, but no way I was giving the Toon one more iota of respect than he deserved -- I couldn't even get him that much, because I'd never gotten close enough to throw something at him.
What's the point of all this? Nothing, really. I just kind of wish now that I had registered to vote in MI rather than OH, so I could do my part against this graying sorority chick. Can't win 'em all, I guess.
