Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the SAVE America Act “one of the most despicable pieces of legislation” he has seen ahead of the bill being brought to the floor for a vote this week. Speaking to reporters on a Sunday phone call, Schumer claimed that President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans are attempting to “disenfranchise millions of Americans and undermine democracy by pushing this despicable SAVE Act,” also called the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility Act. He also called the election integrity bill “one of the most despicable pieces of legislation I’ve come across in the many years I’ve...

Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times. G. Michael Hopf – Those Who Remain Like most red blooded American men, I think about sex and the Roman Empire numerous times every day. In recent years, I’ve added the above quote. As I think back, the different elements of it were probably floating around in some amorphous, uncoordinated morass in the back of my mind for years, never bothering to coalesce. No doubt the reason they didn’t is that for most of my life, America was enjoying...

House Republicans have taken a firm stance in Washington by promising to block Senate-passed legislation until the Senate takes up the SAVE America Act. The legislation, formally called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, requires proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration in federal elections and mandates photo ID at polling places. Lawmakers pushing the measure say the bill protects election integrity by ensuring that only U.S. citizens may vote in federal elections. President Donald Trump has endorsed the effort and signaled he'll prioritize the legislation once it reaches his desk. Republican lawmakers leading the effort have framed the strategy...

We need to wakeup Senator John Thune. The Save America Act is America's last Chance. If he could get it passed he would become a hero. This bill is common sense. If the democrats win again, Filibuster is gone. If he loves America, he needs to make this his number one passion. Any ideas to wakeup him up. I mean not to say how bad he is but how to change his mind. Maybe a march for Thune. Real ideas, please. Please pray that God would change his mind.

Washington — Senate Majority Leader John Thune made clear Tuesday that an elections bill known as the SAVE America Act faces an unlikely path to passage, reiterating his skepticism about the bill's chances as President Trump threatens a legislative blockade until Congress approves the measure."There are no easy ways to do this," Thune told reporters Tuesday. "Believe me, we've examined all the options."The legislation, which the House passed last month, would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, along with photo ID to cast a ballot. But Mr. Trump has demanded that the legislation go farther and ban all...

Pro-Trump Kentucky Senate Republican candidate Nate Morris said that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), whom he hopes to replace in the Senate, is doing everything he can to block the SAVE America Act and enacting national voter ID to vote. Morris spoke to Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle as Trump urged the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act. He wrote on Truth Social, “The United States Senate should focus on, exclusively if necessary, THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!!! It’s what everyone wants!!! President DJT.” “We have somebody in Mitch McConnell who is making it his last effort to do everything...

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, is intensifying pressure on Senate colleagues to advance the SAVE America Act, a Republican-backed election integrity bill that would mandate proof of citizenship to register and a photo ID to vote in federal elections.***"The longer we wait, the harder it'll get to pass the SAVE America Act," Lee wrote Sunday night on X. "Senate Republicans should rip off the Zombie Filibuster next week."***"By requiring Voter ID and proof-of-citizenship, the SAVE America Act will ensure that our federal elections are decided by U.S. citizens — and U.S. citizens alone."Under current Senate rules, most legislation cannot be voted...

The House of Representatives passed a massive election integrity overhaul bill on Wednesday despite opposition from the vast majority of Democrats. The House passed Rep. Chip Roy's SAVE America Act, legislation that's aimed at keeping non-citizens from voting in U.S. federal elections. All but one House Democrat — Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas — voted against the bill. It passed 218 to 213. It is an updated version of the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, also led by Roy, R-Texas, which passed the House in April 2025 but was never taken up in the Senate. Whereas the SAVE Act would...

A state lawmaker from Manhattan wants to make it costly for New Yorkers not to vote. Assemblywoman Deborah Glick, a Democrat, introduced legislation this week that would establish “compulsory voting” in the state and punish those who don’t vote with a $10 fine. “Mandatory voting would drastically increase civic participation and transform the political arena by making politicians more reflective of the constituents that elected them,” Glick wrote in a memo submitted with the bill. Under Glick’s bill, any eligible voter who fails to vote would be hit with the $10 fine unless they have a “valid excuse” why they...

The 13th June marks the anniversary of the day Wat Tyler led the Peasant’s Revolt of 1381 into London. The English capital descended into chaos as the peasants burnt and looted the city, cementing the revolt as the most significant peasant uprising in the feudal period of English history. Originating in the South-East of England, it was when the revolt reached London that its significance became apparent. The peasants went on to capture the Tower of London, a feat which had never been done before. Two powerful figures, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the King’s Treasurer, were killed by the...

When Obamacare’s individual mandate takes effect in 2014, all Americans who file income tax returns must complete an additional IRS tax form. The new form will require disclosure of a taxpayer’s personal identifying health information in order to determine compliance with the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate. As confirmed by IRS testimony to the tax-writing House Committee on Ways and Means, “taxpayers will file their tax returns reporting their health insurance coverage, and/or making a payment”.

Yesterday, we briefly touched on the fact that in addition to reaffirming his wish to ban so-called "assault weapons," President Obama blames the out of control violence in Chicago on "cheap handguns." From Tuesday night's presidential debate (transcript by ABC News): Because frankly, in my home town of Chicago, there’s an awful lot of violence and they’re not using AK-47s. They’re using cheap hand guns. Granted, Obama was short on detail about what he proposes to do about the scourge of "cheap handgun" violence, but if his solution to "assault weapon violence" (which even he admits comprises a vanishingly small...

Has a liberal ever met a problem he didn’t throw money at? Take U.S. Rep. Mike Capuano (D-Somerville). In a recent radio interview on 1510-AM, he addressed the problem (?) of America’s lack of civic engagement and low voter turnout. “I think there is an obligation — not just a right, but an obligation — to vote,” Capuano said. His solution? Money. Your money. Capuano wants to “require people to vote,” but acknowledged that “we aren’t going to put people in jail.” So instead he came up with this idea: “I don’t think it’s a bad thing to say everybody...

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama says he has not decided whether to restore the Federal Emergency Management Agency to a stand-alone department but promises that his administration is committed to robust Gulf Coast recovery efforts regardless of the agency's status. "We're going to be focused on New Orleans' reconstruction, and we're going to be paying a lot of attention to the systems that are in place to protect from hurricanes in the future," Obama said during a White House interview Wednesday with The Times-Picayune and other regional newspapers. In the far-ranging interview, Obama made a case for continuing Justice Department...
