Now that's interesting can any Senate watchers explain what happens in this scenario and why Mike Lee might be suggesting it?

That pesky constitution thingie specifically granted the power of the senate to the VP.
Surprising how many people don’t know that...

The most obvious guess is a vote on suspending the filibuster to get the SAVE Act passed.

So JD can be the tiebreaker if there’s a 50-50 deadlock?

The senate needs a scapegoat? There is no way they cannot pass the save America act

The house passed it, the polling wants it. The democrat polling wants it

They’ve stalled for over a month. It’s a Republican majority senate

President DJT is going to enact it in any case then people will realize the cheating and the senate will be universally disrespected. This particular group of senators, that is

There kid no way they can’t pass it

VP Vance should also take over Senate Leadership. Thune is a sell out.

Rs like the cheating options a much as the Ds do, so they say they won’t vote for it as a tactic to make leadership afraid to allow a vote that would fail. But Vance does not play their silly reindeer games and they would be forced to go on the record on a bill 80% ooff Americans supp..

I give this senator some credit.

I think he genuinely wants to get Voter ID enacted.

And he is publicly promoting it.

As far as the Republican caucus in the Senate goes, that just about makes him a minority of one.

I believe it’s anticipated to be a bigger role than tbat. Can VP Vance assume Thune’s role, effectively. And bring to vote things that Thune is being told not to?

The GOP’s refusal to pass the “SAVE” act is simply the typical GOP obstinacy that occurred during the President’s first term...

The GOP simply cannot get rid of this outsider ASAP... Country be damned!

According to this article "Can We Talk About the So-Called Talking Filibuster and Why It Won't Save the SAVE Act?" posted earlier Thune is hogtied by the combined dictates of Rules XIX and XXII, which theoretically gives Democrats the means to draw out legislation for years. You have to read the article yourself as the processes are too convoluted for me to relate here.

If Vice-President Vance can find a way to cleave this Gordian Knot then God bless him, because the Dems know they're finished if the SAVE America Act passes. It's the one hill they'll die on without doubt.

However, the Vice President is a key part of Continuity of Government (COG) protocols, which involve special security measures during extreme national emergencies. We are in one right now with the Iranian conflict. To ensure the survival of the executive branch, the Vice President and President are often kept at separate locations during high-risk scenarios, such as threats of mass attack or during the State of the Union. Placing him at any location creates a problem with the need as he is open to assassination and especially with senators around him increasing the effectiveness of any subversive action.

“which theoretically gives Democrats the means to draw out legislation for years.”

I don’t really see that as a downside. Republicans could do the same to Democrats, and it would put them in a position to actually stand for their beliefs, instead of just saying they oppose legislation because Trump is president.

It would be a miracle if they pass it. It would kill the democrats.

It would be the biggest bill since freeing the slaves.

Chances are it won’t become law otherwise it would have happened last year.

I agree, but the article I linked points out how a party can drag one out for over three-and-a-half years! Would we still have a country by then?

I'm for going with the old-fashioned filibuster and make the Democrats, one after the other, spout every lame excuse and lie for killing the Act - which translates to the people "Here's why I should be replaced in office". Must see TV at it's finest.
