Twitter will be going through some changes in the coming weeks as it transitions from a thought police enforcement zone to an actual social media platform. One big change will be the removal of employees who don't understand the difference between disagreement and hate speech. But don't worry! We see you and we hear you, former Twitter employees! Here are some new jobs that fit your expansive skillset: 1) White House Press Secretary: Wow! What a prestigious position! Too bad there can be only one. You'll have to fight it out with your several hundred colleagues for this one. 2)...
  • Following Two Misbegotten Conflicts, Is it Possible the Moderator for the Next Presidential Debate Is Even Worse?

Up to now we have endured a pair of debates between the candidates running for the White House and the results have been anything but encouraging. The fractured messaging and distemper on display have been expected, but when looking at those who were in command of these contests there has been both concern and disappointment. Now there is a possibility it might become worse, that is if the next conflict scheduled for Miami happens to take place. After long weeks of speculation the lid-happy Joe Biden actually managed to attend the first presidential debate against Donald Trump, and it was...
  • The Moderator Who Built Kamala's Cocoon

In the last few months, the Trump-Pence team has held a plethora of press conferences and "pool sprays" during which they've taken hostile liberal questions, while Joe Biden's campaign has called a "lid" on the press many days and has "lidded" Kamala Harris from the national press since she was picked in August. So it's a little perverse that when Harris finally showed up for big-league questioning at the vice-presidential debate, moderator Susan Page of USA Today gave her little-league questioning. Allow me to list the most frustrating and/or feckless Page inquiries in order: 1. "President Trump has several times...
  • Who Is Steve Scully, the Moderator for the Second Presidential Debate?

While there are no guarantees that the second debate won't be the dumpster fire that was the first, Scully's famously calm demeanor could make things easier. Here's what to know about him. Scully explained his career history and how he got involved in the world of politics—and it has a lot to do with Biden. "You know, it was pretty traditional," he said. "I came to school in Washington, D.C., went to American University and had a couple of internships. I worked for Joe Biden, Senator from Delaware at the time, as an intern, so I had my first chance...

Ted Cruz @tedcruz 1/x Everyone agrees Tuesday’s debate was a train wreck. A major contributing fact was the moderator Chris Wallace, a registered Democrat, repeatedly interrupting to try to help Joe Biden. The next debate is set to be moderated by a former intern to...Joe Biden. (And Ted Kennedy.) 8:10 AM · Oct 1, 2020·Twitter for iPhone Ted Cruz @tedcruz · 13m Replying to @tedcruz 2/x This is NUTS. It did not take long for a social media user to do a bit of research on both Scully and Welker and figure out that Trump might not gain any favors from any of them in the upcoming debates, and it would be not unlike how he was treated by Wallace. "FAIR DEBATES?! Presidential Debates Commission chooses FORMER BIDEN INTERN Steve Scully C-SPAN to moderate a Trump-Biden Debate. Also Chris Wallace FOX (a major Trump hater) & Kristen Welker NBC (far left Trump hater) to moderate debates. THIS IS SHAMEFUL!" the user wrote.
  • CNN does ‘disservice to voters’ by naming Don Lemon debate moderator, critic says

    Fox News ^ | 07/08/2019 | Brian Flood
CNN announced on Monday that Don Lemon will follow in the footsteps of MSNBC’s far-left opinion host Rachel Maddow as a Democratic presidential primary debate moderator -- and one critic called the decision a "disservice to voters all across the political spectrum.” Lemon will join Dana Bash and Jake Tapper for the two-night event on July 30-31 from Detroit. Debate moderators are historically straight-news journalists, as opposed to partisan pundits, but CNN’s decision mirrors NBC’s strategy to allow Maddow to moderate last month’s Democratic Debate.

If you missed last night’s debate, the RNC has a 271-second distillation of it. For most viewers, the biggest impression of the event came from Tim Kaine’s constant interruptions and interjections. The RNC counted 72 of them, but it felt like a lot more when watching the debate live. Is this the fault of the moderator, CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano? Perhaps not, but that doesn’t mean she’s off the hook either. Let me put it this (VIDEO-AT-LINK) … oh, sorry, the video interrupted me. At any rate, short of being able to yank Kaine’s microphone off his lapel, she...

CNN’s Brian Stelter says Lester Holt is signaling to his NBC colleagues that he may enter the fray in Monday night’s presidential debate as a participant rather than a moderator — thanks to intense left-wing backlash over Matt Lauer’s performance at the “Commander in Chief Forum” weeks ago.

When Democrats debated on Thursday, one of their moderators—PBS’s Judy Woodruff—was a Clinton Foundation donor who conveniently did not ask Hillary Clinton about her email scandal just hours after news about the Clinton Foundation subpoenas dominated the news cycle. Republicans will not be as lucky. CBS’s John Dickerson, who urged President Barack Obama to “pulverize” Republicans, will moderate tonight’s debate.

Lewandowski’s bluffing, just as Trump bluffed before the September debate in implying that he might not participate unless CNN devoted the proceeds to veterans groups. Stirring a little extra controversy is all part of Trump’s regular debate pre-game. And there’s not a ghost of a chance that Roger Ailes will meet his demand: Not only would he look weak in caving, he would humiliate the network’s new biggest star in doing so. If Fox wants to keep Kelly away from network news, agreeing with Trump that she’s tainted by bias and needs to be kicked off the panel would be...

BOULDER, Colo. — In easily his most animated moment on the debate stage since he launched his presidential campaign, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz excoriated moderators of the third GOP presidential debate Wednesday night."This is not a cage match," the Texas Republican said. "And you look at the questions — 'Donald Trump, are you a comic-book villain?' 'Ben Carson, can you do math?' 'John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?' 'Marco Rubio, why don't you resign?' 'Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?' How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?"Cruz's media criticism drew loud applause at...

Here is audio of Rush Limbaugh reacting today to reports that the RNC is considering having Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and himself moderate 2016 GOP Presidential Debates. Limbaugh said, “I’m too famous” to do it, and that he would “overshadow” the candidates. But he did go on to say such debates would not be on mainstream media outlets if they were to take place. I think it would be great!

There have been quite a few comments here at Free Republic regarding moderator bias during the two Presidential debates, and also during the Vice-Presidential debate. Many FR posters have been taking pot-shots at the MSM and the debate moderators. In my humble (and often misguided) opinion, we are shooting at the wrong target. The real target here should be Romney, and his advisors. They agreed to all of this. What else did they - and we - expect? After all, if you pick up a scorpion, you can expect to get stung.

In the baseball playoffs, the tie goes to the runner. In debates, ties are decided by the moderator and that’s what happened during the Tuesday night presidential debate at HofstraUniversity in New York. CNN’s Candy Crowley made her presence felt as a moderator in a major way on two points, but none larger than the issue of Libya. The terrorist attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and four others in Benghazi has become a sore point for Obama, but Crowley made sure she called Romney out before Obama could tag him. When Romney said Obama had not called the attack an act of terror...
