HotAir is a big voice in the conservative blogsophere and has done much to advance the cause of those wishing to stop and reverse the growth of a large central government. Unfortunately Hot Air's Ed Morrissey has brashly thrown his weight behind Scott Brown in the Massachusetts special election. This is disturbing and disheartening for every tea party, small government loving soul in America. While I certainly cannot blame casual Massachusetts Republicans for getting excited over Brown's possible win over Martha Coakley, it becomes much harder to justify it in the case of Ed whose life revolves around politics and...

Republican gubernatorial hopeful Charlie Baker has picked state Sen. Richard R. Tisei as his running mate, according to his campaign Web site and Facebook page. An announcement is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the American Civic Center in Tisei’s hometown of Wakefield, State House News is reporting. Baker’s campaign manager could not be immediately reached for comment. “Richard has years of experience fighting for the taxpayer on Beacon Hill and I’m thrilled to have him on the team,” Baker said in a statement posted on his campaign Web site. The Web page contained on CharlieBaker2010.com included a photo of...

The Massachusetts Republican Party has filed an injunction in a Boston court seeking to block former Democratic Party chairman Paul Kirk from becoming the interim replacement for the late Sen. Edward Kennedy. Lawmakers this week passed legislation giving Gov. Deval Patrick the power to appoint an interim replacement, but laws approved in Massachusetts usually take 90 days to go into effect. Patrick signed an emergency letter that he says allows the law to become effective immediately. Republicans allege in their court filing that Patrick did not have the constitutional authority to do that. But State Secretary William Galvin said today...

Newly elected Republican Party Chairman Jennifer Nassour has wasted no time making it clear where she wants the party to go. Last week, in a front-page interview with the hardcore homosexual newspaper Bay Windows, she told the homosexual community that they didn't need to worry about the Republican party opposing them on "social issues" or "the culture wars."

The Massachusetts Republican Party, in their "wisdom", elected what some conservatives deemed a Barbie cheerleader. The only problem is, instead of leading, she's apparently not even good at backing her team. Newly elected Republican Party Chairman Jennifer Nassour has wasted no time making it clear where she wants the party to go. Last week, in a front-page interview with the hardcore homosexual newspaper Bay Windows, she told the homosexual community that they didn't need to worry about the Republican party opposing them on "social issues" or "the culture wars." We've known for years that the loser RINOs run the Mass...

A Web-based “truth” squad is poised to chase Mitt Romney in an effort to trip him up on the presidential campaign trail - and its members are Republicans from his very own Bay State. Founded by GOP consultants Holly Robichaud and Ron Vining, the Mass Republicans for Truth plans to launch a nationwide attack on the former governor’s record - including radio and TV ads. “He’s running for the highest office in the nation and voters need to know the entire record,” said Robichaud. “We can’t elect an unknown quantity to president of the United States.” The group will post...

GOP fielding fewer legislative candidates than in 2004 By Steve LeBlanc, Associated Press Writer | May 31, 2006 BOSTON --Republicans are fielding far fewer candidates for the Massachusetts House and Senate than two years ago, and are challenging none of the incumbent Democratic district attorneys. About 81 Republicans are running for seats in the Legislature, 61 in the House and 20 in the Senate, according to information provided by the state secretary's office. That's less than half of the total number of seats in the Legislature. There are a total of 160 seats in the House and 40 in the...

The former vice chairman of the state Republican Party was indicted Tuesday on federal money laundering and obstruction of justice charges for allegedly offering to "cleanse" drug proceeds for a client. Lawrence Novak, 54, a Brockton lawyer, resigned as head of the state GOP earlier this month when he was arrested at his home in connection to the charges. He was later released on bond. According to the indictment and other court documents, Novak filed false and misleading documents in state court in an attempt to invalidate a client's prior state court convictions.

The vice chairman of the state Republican Party was charged Tuesday with money-laundering after he allegedly offered to "cleanse" drug proceeds for a legal client. Lawrence Novak, 54, an attorney from Brockton, was arrested at his home Tuesday after investigators said he allegedly offered to launder drug profits for Scott Holyoke, who is awaiting trial on federal drug trafficking charges and agreed to be a cooperating witness against Novak for the FBI. Novak was taken into custody after he allegedly deposited money in a Brockton bank, federal authorities said. Gov. Mitt Romney called for Novak to step down while the...
