The former vice chairman of the state Republican Party was indicted Tuesday on federal money laundering and obstruction of justice charges for allegedly offering to "cleanse" drug proceeds for a client.

Lawrence Novak, 54, a Brockton lawyer, resigned as head of the state GOP earlier this month when he was arrested at his home in connection to the charges. He was later released on bond.
