At the end of Tuesday’s City Council meeting, councilwoman Mary Morris added a resolution to the agenda focused on the South’s Defenders monument in front of the Calcasieu Parish Courthouse. Morris’ addition was a resolution asking the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to remove the monument from the courthouse lawn and remove any other Confederate symbol from display on public property. Morris said the resolution came at the request of constituents in her district. Since the mass shooting inside a black church in downtown Charleston, S.C., on June 17, Morris said, a national debate has begun about the Confederate symbols. “The...

It's at least the 26th time so far this year, that Lake Charles Police respond to a call at Lakeview Motel where FEMA pays to house people displaced from the hurricanes; people like Stacy Arceneaux and her mother Charlotte Broussard. The frightened women who live here have this notice on the door: "Identify yourself, do not disturb, gun in room." Arceneaux says, "I will shoot you if I do not know who you are, period. If you look at my family wrong, I will shoot you." "I'm expecting a bullet to come right through the walls. There's a bullet right...

The damage that has hit SW Louisiana and SE Texas is much worse than is being reported by the MSM. While there is very little in the way of a body count, houses and businesses by the hundreds have been destroyed. Entire communities in Cameron Parish have more than likely been erased from the map. Here is link for some images from SW LA. You'll have to scroll down.

Boustany, Mount go on offensive in ads By PATRICK COURREGES Acadiana bureau The candidate-funded television ads running for the edification of potential voters in Louisiana's 7th Congressional District runoff on Dec. 4 are dedicating an increasing amount of time to blasting the opponent. Lafayette Republican Charles Boustany Jr., a retired heart surgeon, and state Sen. Willie Mount, D-Lake Charles, have been trading increasingly sharp jabs at each other's record over the airwaves. A current Mount ad says that while Boustany's ads show him working in a hospital wearing doctor's scrubs, "He hasn't practiced medicine in quite a while. He...
