Former Congressman Jason Lewis announced Thursday morning he is running for the U.S. Senate in 2020. Lewis, a Republican who lost his 2018 re-election bid to represent the 2nd Congressional District, will try to unseat Democratic U.S. Sen. Tina Smith. In his announcement, though, he targeted Rep. Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Laborer Party leaders addressed domestic abuse allegations involving Congressman Keith Ellison during a Thursday news conference, just two days after he won the party’s primary for attorney general. DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin said Ellison has their support for now as the party’s candidate. "We take these allegations seriously, we are certainly eager to hear all the answers to the questions that have been raised,” said Martin. “We continue to watch the story develop, we don't know how it's going to develop and the conclusion at this point."
