The Department of Justice (DOJ) has acknowledged the legitimacy of Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop data for the first time in a new court filing. In a Tuesday court filing from DOJ prosecutors, which came in response to Biden’s request to have his federal firearm charges dismissed, investigators acknowledge the legitimacy of data found on Biden’s laptop prior to the 2020 election. The court filings described how IRS and FBI investigators had obtained a search warrant for tax violations on Biden, leading them to “various” backup data accounts. The documents additionally note that investigators later came into “possession” of the laptop...

A naked selfie of Joe Biden's brother Frank has been discovered on a gay porn site. The photo was uploaded to GuysWithiPhones.com in 2018, when Frank – who has a long-term female partner Mindy Ward – was 64. *** When approached by DailyMail.com, Frank, 69, conceded he was the man in the photo but denied he was the one who posted it. 'I've absolutely no comment. I could care less. I haven't even looked at it,' Frank said Monday morning when asked about the shot at his Florida home. 'They must have hacked my phone,' he added. 'Anything that is...

Rudolph W. Giuliani says that the FBI secretly spied on his Apple iCloud account beginning in late 2019 when he was having regular messaging conversations with his client, President Trump, during House impeachment proceedings. Mr. Giuliani said the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan on Thursday informed his attorney, Robert Costello, that covert wiretapping took place. Mr. Giuliani, once the mob-fighting top prosecutor in New York and then the city’s mayor, said an assistant U.S. attorney made the disclosure because the operation will have to be detailed in court. The penetration happened under the Trump administration and then-Attorney General William P....

A state-owned telecommunications company in China now stores the iCloud data for Apple’s China-based users. This is really bad news for dissidents and critics of the government. Fast forward to today: China Telecom, a government owned telco, is taking over the iCloud data from Guizhou-Cloud Big Data. This essentially means that a state-owned firm now has access to all the iCloud data China-based users store, such as photos, notes, emails, and text messages. Chinese state-run media is heralding the move as a win for consumers, but Chinese citizens have been extremely condemnatory of the decision. On Weibo, China’s Twitter clone,...

Did The iCloud Celebrity Nude Picture Scandal Have Something To Do With Harvey Weinstein? In September of 2014, Apple was getting ready to announce a massive iPhone upgrade: bigger iPhones than anything it sold before. But just a few days ahead of the iPhone 6 press event, an iCloud security scandal broke out. Nude pictures belonging to Jennifer Lawrence and many other celebrities leaked online, originating from iPhone backups. Apple explained at the time that its iCloud security was not breached and that hackers probably used phishing schemes to obtain the usernames and passwords of the celebrities. Here is a...

A security flaw in iOS devices that went largely unreported after it was revealed to have been fixed had the potential to be one of the most damaging security vulnerabilities this year. The bug exploited a flaw in how Apple's iCloud Keychain synchronizes sensitive data across devices, like passwords and credit cards on file, which -- if exploited -- could've let a sophisticated attacker steal every secret stored on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. "The bug we found is exactly the kind of bug law enforcement or intelligence would look for in an end-to-end encryption system," said Alex Radocea, co-founder...

“A hacker or group of hackers is apparently trying to extort Apple over alleged access to a large cache of iCloud and other Apple email accounts,†Joseph Cox reports for Motherboard. “The hackers, who identified themselves as ‘Turkish Crime Family’, demanded $75,000 in Bitcoin or Ethereum, another increasingly popular crypto-currency, or $100,000 worth of iTunes gift cards in exchange for deleting the alleged cache of data.†“The hackers provided screenshots of alleged emails between the group and members of Apple’s security team. One also gave Motherboard access to an email account allegedly used to communicate with Apple,†Cox reports. “‘Are...

Over recent weeks, iCloud users have started to notice an increased amount of spam coming to various aspects of their accounts. Email accounts, of course, are always vulnerable to spam messages and the root cause can be a variety of different reasons. This new type of spam, however, relates to iCloud’s Calendar and Photo Sharing functionalities… Essentially what happens in these instances is an iCloud user will receive a request for either a Calendar event or to view/share an iCloud Photo Sharing album or image. The issue with this type of spam is that, even if the user hits...

I really like Apple Music. Everything from the setup process (I kept hitting "more artists" until I couldn't anymore) through the entire user interface left me impressed yesterday. Apple has managed to reinvent its Music app by stuffing a subscription music service inside it — without making it all hopelessly confusing... Still, there's one fundamental problem with Apple Music that's crippling its potential for me and keeping it from becoming my one and only music destination — exactly the thing Apple wants it to be. It's the way the service heavily leans on iCloud. Or more specifically, "iCloud Music Library."...

The stunning leak of nude and intimate photos of scores of celebrities may reach far wider than was previously known, involving the breach of almost 600 online storage accounts, according to unsealed federal court documents. The "Celebgate" hack resulted in the posting on Aug. 31 of almost 500 purported photos of Hollywood stars, models and other celebrities — including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst, Kaley Cuoco and U.S. soccer star Hope Solo — to the Wild West-like Internet forum 4chan, from which they quickly spread. Apple Inc. confirmed the next day that the photos were obtained through a "targeted...

“All iCloud accounts could be vulnerable to hacking by a new tool that claims it can break into any user’s login,” Andrew Griffin reports for The Independent. “The tool claims to use an exploit to get through Apple’s security.” “It uses a ‘dictionary attack’ to get into accounts — a hack that involves automatically trying a number of passwords until the right one is found. Sites usually have locks in place to stop such an attack, by only allowing a certain number of tries of one password, but the tool claims to be able to bypass those,” Griffin reports. “A...

A hacker has released a tool that he says can break into any iCloud account. The tool, iDict, uses an exploit in Apple's security to bypass restrictions that stop most hackers from gaining access to accounts. On iDict's GitHub page, user "Pr0x13" says the exploit used to create the hacking tool is "painfully obvious" and that it "was only a matter of time" before hackers used it to break into iCloud accounts. The tool is described as a "100% working iCloud Apple ID dictionary attack that bypasses account lockout restrictions and secondary authentication on any account."
