  • Historic Denver Church Vandalized, Motive Unclear

    07/02/2021 6:13:14 PM PDT · by marshmallow · 6 replies
A historic Catholic church in downtown Denver was tagged with graffiti on Monday evening, in a possible reference to the controversy over former Catholic-run schools for Indigenous in Canada. The number “1323” was discovered painted in large red figures on an outer wall of Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Monday. The graffiti was cleaned off by Tuesday morning. Mark Haas, spokesman for the archdiocese of Denver, told CNA that the paint was water-based and washed off easily. He said the church’s pastor, Father Christoher Uhl, hopes to put the incident behind him and not draw any additional attention to the...
  • DONALD TRUMP SUCKS THE AIR OUT OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES AND TED CRUZ BETTER WISE UP QUICK

A couple of things up front. I am a Ted Cruz supporters in word and deed$$$$. I have no animus towards Donald Trump as some posters (trolls?) have suggested Ted Cruz supporters have. I have expressed concerns about Trump but Donald has earned his place by solidly outperforming the other candidates with a message that connects, connects solidly with working people like the "Reagan Democrats" of which my father is one. Trump is 'sucking the air out of other candidates' with media attention focused on him and his poll leads demoralizing supporters of other candidates. Back in my teenage years...

Dear Mr. President, Thank you for the letter you sent explaining the wonderful things the Republican party is doing for me and asking for money. A truely proper response would be too lengthy. As I wish not to take up too much of your valuable time, let me respond briefly and ennunciate the conditions under which the Republican party is eligible for what remains of my money. I will donate $250.00 to the Republican party upon verification of the following: 1. FairTax enacted and IRS disbanded. 2. Borders 100 percent secure, Illegals rounded up and sent packing, those who hire...

I submit to you good people, what if Fitzgerald hands down no indictment? First, will the media perform a mea cupla, mea maximia cupla? Will the CIA get the house cleaning it needs? Will Joe Wilson finally shut up? Or will we hear the phrases, narrowly escaped, intense pressure from the White House, a deal was reached, from the MSM? You opinions leavened with humor, as you please.

On October 3rd, President Bush announced his nomination of his longtime friend, White House Counsel Harriet Miers as his nominee for the vacancy created by the departure of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Miers had been leading the White House effort to help Bush choose nominees to the Supreme Court. Unlike recent Democrat presidential nominees Al Gore and John Kerry who declared they would never nominate a pro-life Supreme Court justice, Bush has repeatedly indicated that he has no litmus test for his judicial nominees on abortion clearly implying a willingness to select judicial nominees who support the arguably...

Alright. It's not necessary to do the obligatory "what are you watching CNN for anyway?" It's part of my job description. OK. I just need to vent amongst friends. This guy is quickly rising to the top of smarmy Libs. He is a poor Andy Rooney wannabe who accompanies Wolf Blitzer afternoons at CNN. His job description is to add insight and read e-mails answering questions he throws out. Of course, he picks his favorites to read. Everything designed to slime Bush. Not even a hint of objectivity. I just saw him ask, "what will be different with response to...

I know we like to post news stories on this board and go OMG OMG OMG teh udder side teh suXorZ!!11! It's rare that anyone really writes anything somewhat original so, here, I'll do something like that. I'm amazed at some of the twists that are going on in political and legal life right now. So much so that I really think it's worth commenting on. In some ways, we're going in the absolute wrong direction. Now before you get a knee jerk reaction and say i'm a "traitor" or some DUmmie here to quiety say "It's because of Bu$hco...

Six months ago, Free Republic was riding high, and I was proud to be a part of it. It was coming off having blown the cover off of Dan Rather’s use of forged memos against the President. The President was well on his way to winning re-election. It was a great time to be a Freeper. However, things have changed. It started with the justifiable removal of ALIPAC. I supported that move by Jim Robinson, but the ugliness directed towards Alberto Gonzales. He was accused of everything under the sun, and Senator Mel Martinez was viciously attacked for speaking Spanish...
