New York -- When a suspicious video of ballots being ripped up in Pennsylvania gained attention on social media last October, federal agencies responded quickly and called it out as Russian disinformation. On Election Day in November, bomb threats to polling places in numerous states caused relatively few disruptions to voting. It’s one of the many scenarios covered by the nation’s cybersecurity agency in its outreach to state and local officials. The Trump administration’s downsizing and disbanding of federal agencies has hit efforts that improve election security and monitor foreign influence. That could create gaps for America’s enemies to exploit the...

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed on Tuesday that some Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) employees who worked on "mis-, dis-, and malinformation" were put on administrative leave. In a statement to Scripps News, DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote CISA needs to "refocus on its mission," starting with election security. "The agency is undertaking an evaluation of how it has executed its election security mission with a particular focus on any work related to mis-, dis-, and malinformation," according to the statement. As first reported by Fox News Digital, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified in April 2022...

A special agent with the Department of Homeland Security in Utah is facing a federal charge accusing him of providing drugs to an informant to sell on the side that were not part of any government investigation. A 27-page criminal complaint was filed Friday and unsealed Monday against David Cole for conspiracy to distribute and possess drugs with intent to distribute. The federal complaint also lists a "person A" as a possible co-defendant and states that Cole "conspired with person A and others." "Cole and person A have had their Homeland Security credentials suspended but have not been terminated," court...

According to a report from the Mail on Sunday, Sheikh Yasser al-Habib, a Kuwaiti Shia cleric, is seeking to raise £3.5 million to purchase the private island of Torsa (Thor’s Island) in the Inner Herbides area of Scotland as a destination for Shias from all over the globe to migrate. Al-Habib has allegedly said that the purpose of the purchase would be to establish a...

The woman President Joe Biden chose to be the government-sanctioned arbiter of truth believes “there are many non-binary people who give birth” — despite the basic fact that pregnancy is biologically unique to women. The Biden administration appointed Nina Jankowicz as chief of the “Disinformation Governance Board,” which the Department of Homeland Security is setting up to combat “misinformation” online. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas spoke about the “just established” governance board during a congressional hearing Wednesday, arguing it would help reduce domestic threats to the United States. Jankowicz, who is a so-called “disinformation expert” and a fellow for the...

President Joe Biden’s new disinformation chief Nina Jankowicz used TikTok to imitate her male trolls. In a video created on January 25, Jankowicz dressed up and imitated two of her online male critics. Jankowicz made her TikTok video account private after it was featured on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show Thursday night, but some videos still exist on her Twitter account. “Women should not be involved in government. They can not be trusted,” she said as she wore a hat and looked into the camera, speaking in a male tone. “The real reason she is angry is no Chads would...

After Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed his department's creation of a Disinformation Governance Board aimed at combating misinformation, Republican lawmakers were all over the announcement, accusing the Department of Homeland Security of going too far. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, joined the chorus of critics Thursday when he confronted Mayorkas face to face during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on oversight of DHS. "Mr. Secretary, yesterday you announced the formation of Disinformation Governance Board at DHS. You put out a bulletin two months ago, a big fancy bulletin here, red, white and blue. You said that misleading narratives, mis-, dis-,...

National Guardsmen just completed a two-week training exercise which saw them respond to a simulated cyberattack that took out critical utilities across the United States. The exercises have become an annual event, but this year took on even more significance after coming on the heels of several major ransomware and cyber attacks that crippled large parts of American infrastructure in recent months. The exercises were part of the seventh Cyber Yankee, an training event that brings together guardsmen from throughout the New England region to test their responses against simulated cyberattacks. This year’s exercises simulated a cyber attack that targeted...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A congressional panel has been asked to postpone a closed door deposition with a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) intelligence chief because of delays in obtaining access to classified records and approval of security clearances for his lawyers. But Adam Schiff, the Democrat who chairs the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, said on Friday his panel was "rejecting the Department’s attempt to limit the scope of its investigation" into the DHS intelligence office, which would-be witness Brian Murphy formerly headed. Murphy said in a whistleblower complaint on Sept. 8 that President Donald Trump's acting DHS chief...

After the 9/11 attacks, we began to hear that cliche about how “the terrorists will have won” if we let ourselves become so consumed with fear that we no longer act rationally. Well, the future is now. That’s my reaction to that decision to cancel the annual Labor Day parade in South Plainfield because a guy left some fireworks in a bar in Sea Bright. When I got an email from the Governor’s Office Monday morning saying this year’s parade had been canceled, I figured it might be because of the weather. -snip- Nope. It soon turned out that the...

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Wednesday defended President Trump's assessment that the situation at the southern border constitutes a national emergency, telling lawmakers that an extended influx in migrants could "overwhelm" the immigration system. Nielsen testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security that illegal immigration "is spiraling out of control and threatening public safety and national security." Democrats pressed her on whether the situation genuinely required Trump's emergency declaration, which the House voted to overturn last week. "Although we may disagree on solutions, I hope there can be a consensus that the current system isn’t working and that...

(National Sentinel) Denied: Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nelsen said during an interview on Sunday that the migrant caravan traipsing towards the United States will “not get in” so they may as well turn around. Reports over the weekend noted that about 1,700 mostly Central American migrants accepted an offer of asylum from Mexico. But thousands more refused, saying they want to be in the U.S. But that’s not going to happen, Nelson said. “There a legal way to get into this country. Those who choose to enter illegally will be stopped,” she told “Fox News Sunday.” Nelson noted that most...

You've heard it from the showrunner. You've heard it from the star. And now you've heard it from the head of the network: Homeland is indeed ending with its upcoming eighth season. Showtime Networks CEO David Nevins on Monday confirmed the long-speculated news at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour. "I do not want to hear the word 'cancellation,'" Nevins clarified. "[Co-creator and showrunner] Alex Gansa will bring the show to its proper conclusion. Nevins had been previously shy to call it quits on the pay cabler's No. 1 drama, even though Gansa has been implying season eight would...

The Department of Homeland Security has issued an alert regarding an increased threat, but this one doesn’t involve our nation’s DEFCON level. Nor does it have to do with missiles potentially coming in from North Korea. This alert was an internal warning for DHS employees to be on the lookout for threats coming from our own citizens. They’re citing specific and credible threats coming in from social media and other sources. (Government Executive) In a memo to employees over the weekend, acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Claire Grady said there has been an increase in the number of threats...

In December, the Daily Caller reported on the “verbally abusive” environment that Chris Matthews has created on the Hardball set, adding that people “felt like they had to ‘walk on eggshells’ around their ‘abusive’ boss.” Matthews flashed that thin skin on this evening’s Hardball. When guest David Corn politely pointed out that the TV series in question was “Homeland,” not “Homefront” as Matthews had said, Matthews snapped: “You going to keep correcting me?” Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Okay, I recently started binge watching "Homeland" due to getting a Showtime subscription when I turned off my cable TV and switched to Amazon Prime. I just completed watching Season 1 of "Homeland" last night and I noticed several absurdities with the show. However, the biggest absurdity of them all is: HOW DID A VICE-PRESIDENT BECOME SO POWERFUL? The President on the show is invisible so far but Vice-President Walden is so powerful that he can even order drone missile strikes? Really? In what alternate universe does this happen? Ordering military operations by himself is waaaaay above a vice-president's pay...
