I'm searching for a good parental control for the computer. I finally switch to cable from dial up and the free software that the company provides doesn't appear to be user friendly (I haven't had a chance to really sit down and play with it yet). I researched the web to see what's out there and would like some Freeper input as well. Happy New Year.

Is anybody else having problems over at Blogger.Com or at BlogSpot.Com? First I had trouble even logging into Blogger.Com because they said I had to activate my cookies even though I checked and they were already activated. I restarted my computer and that seemed to do the trick. Then I tried to correct a link URL on the latest edition of my blog and when I clicked the "PUBLISH" button, the following message popped up: 001 java.io.IOException: No space left on deviceblog/39/31/8/dummiefunnies/archives/2006_01_01_dummiefunnies_archive.html I tried several more times to republish my Blog but no go. Same message keeps popping up. Is...

A quick question for legal minded fellow freepers. It seems I'm being sued in small claims court. It stems from an incident 6 months ago, I was looking to move and spoke with a realtor. I never signed a contract. I did fill out a "credit application". He advised me that the apt wouldn't be available for at least a month. The real estate guy told me he needed to "hold" a check for the first months rent. He advised he would not cash it until he received the contents of my credit check and a signed contract. He advised...

This may, in fact, be a stupid question. What's the easiest way to delete a whole hard drive of files with Windows 98. And is there a way to do it without wiping out Windows 98 itself. I'm afraid I don't know the specifics. My mom's neighbor wants to get rid of her old machine, but she doesn't want the new people to have any of her old files. What's the quickest and easiest way to do that? Thanks Freepers!

I head back to the classroom tomorrow and am looking for a news article that lays out the NSA "spying" story in a clear, easy-to-understand manner. I want to be sure that the article addresses the historical precedent of Presidents using executive orders to initiate wiretaps. I want to get my kids (junior high and high school) caught up on the news. Any suggestions?

A friend of mine is sufferering from some post Iraq war problems. He saw very intense action over the year he a was in theater.....he left the service about 4 mnths ago. He doesn't look good. He's drinking quite heavily and experiencing serious guilt at receiving a non life threatening Purple Heart while his a number of close friends in his platoon suffered serious, debilitating injuries. In addition he is struggling with the lost of two platoon memebers he was fond of.....he had to deal with what remained of their bodies after a car bomb attack. The military shrinks have...

I'm tired of leftists making the claim "most Rebpublicans in Congress never served in the military". Where can I find some actual data showing which of our elected officials actually served? I'm tired of these traitors accusing Republicans and conservatives of being "chicken hawks"!

12/30/2005 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- The C-130 Hercules aircraft here have routinely hauled more than one million troops and 76,000 tons of cargo in and out of Iraq. But today the mission was not routine. At about 4 p.m., a C-130 from the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing touched down here carrying Baby Noor, her father and grandmother on their way to the United States for medical treatment. Baby Noor was born with spina bifida and was given one month to live by doctors in Iraq, said Maya Dietz, vice consul for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Georgia National Guardsmen...

There are 2 threads about Neilson's cable news rankings for 2005. I keyword searched and found the one listed above that "LINKS" a PDF file for the rankings. I am searching for the other thread that actually "LISTS" the programs 1-100(or so) so I can cut and paste. THANKS

I'm trying to find a copy of the Capitol One 'Hand in my Pocket' commercial (for political parody purposes) but I can't seem to find on. If any of you have or can get a good copy of it, please freepmail me and I'll tell you where to send it. Thanks in advance

I bought my wife an MP3 player for Christmas, but really don't know what software to use to rip the CD's that we have into MP3 file format. I'd appreciate any recommendations, preferably something that doesn't cost (gratis from the writer of the code, not pirated). Thanks in advance

Okay, Free Republic has been a main source of information for me for a long time. That said I have never started a topic. This will be my first. I hope I am doing this correctly. I want a wireless router / print server for my home. I have a Windows XP laptop. I have a linksys router that works well but does not have a print server so I have to keep pluggin the printer into my laptop. What products have you used that you would recommend for commbination router/print server? Thanks.

I'm running an one-year old Compaq Presario P4 2.8 GHz with 512 MB of RAM and a nVIDIA GeForce FX5200 with 128 MB video RAM. Currently I have NSW (Norton Sys Works) 2005 installed for Anti-virus and system maintenance works, ZoneAlarm for firewall, and Spobot, Ad-aware, and Spyware Blaster for spyware removal programs. I'm wondering whether this is the best choice I'm using? Is there anything else I should add (preferably free) or I should use in place of any of these utilities so to have the best protection? Thanks in advance.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop, and it has an S-video jack and a serial display VGA jack (15 pin D shell female). I would like to display images on a television. The television (it's analog, not digital) has no S video jack, neither does it have a VGA jack. It does have red-white-yellow inputs (?RCA jacks?). What is the best or most economical way of getting images onto the TV? Is there an S-video-to-yellow video adapter cable (would be, I imagine, S video on one end, yellow RCA on the other)? What other alternatives do I have? Thanks.

Apologies if this is cross posted on the wrong board... While surfing around yesterday, I saw this post... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1547014/posts?page=1,50 I got to thinking, which was a big mistake cause it started me crying. You see, I've lost more than 7 family members to Cancer...the most recent was my sweet Niece. She was only 31 and left behind 2 awesome little boys, and devastated my Sister, as well. I have friends that have lost loved ones too, and some that are still living in fear of the day that the test comes back with bad old news...again. Smile is a friend...

Does Australia have any equivalent to Free Republic...or any space on FR? If so, I'd like to meet some Aussies here.

My wife and I have been looking at the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace program. Anyone here tried it? If so, what were your sucesses and what were the difficulties you had in doing it. We did some traveling over the holidays and listened to one of his books on tape and found it interesting.....but words are always easier than actions. We're ready for some pain to make some gain......but are also looking out for problems we can eitehr avoid or use someone elses wisdom when we encounter them.
