WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling tied to birthright citizenship prompted confusion and phone calls to lawyers as people who could be affected tried to process a convoluted legal decision with major humanitarian implications.
The court's conservative majority on Friday granted President Donald Trump his request to curb federal judges' power but did not decide the legality of his bid to restrict birthright citizenship.
That outcome has raised more questions than answers about a right long understood to be guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution: that anyone born in the United States is considered a citizen at birth, regardless of their parents' citizenship or legal status.
Lorena, a 24-year-old Colombian asylum seeker who lives in Houston and is due to give birth in September, pored over media reports on Friday morning. She was looking for details about how her baby might be affected, but said she was left confused and worried.
"There are not many specifics," said Lorena, who like others interviewed by Reuters asked to be identified by her first name out of fear for her safety. "I don't understand it well."
She is concerned that her baby could end up with no nationality.
"I don’t know if I can give her mine," she said. "I also don't know how it would work, if I can add her to my asylum case. I don't want her to be adrift with no nationality."
Trump, a Republican, issued an order after taking office in January that directed U.S. agencies to refuse to recognize the citizenship of children born in the U.S. who do not have at least one parent who is...

It's a start.
Rooters. Immigrants. Say no more say no more
They gonna start inducing labor early to make sure they get their anchor?

By all accounts illegal immigrants are selling off possessions, not making interpersonal relationships with peers, pushing cash to their home nation and getting ready for the knock at the door. A few years from now, if there are labor shortages, it would have been best if they picked selfdeportation. Feeling that the gig is almost up, grabbing the last few dollars of the last season, figuring out how to get the spoils home, means no body is on the telephone saying America is the land of milk and honey, come brother, come cousin Ill show you the scam.
You'll both be perfectly happy back in Columbia.
This “birthright” crap needs to be changed. If you are born in the U.S. you choose ONE AND ONLY ONE CITIZENSHIP. All of my ancestors had to renounce their previous citizenship and renounce the freak running the country they were getting away or being kicked out of. There is no reason for dual citizenship IMHO.
There. Fixed it.
So long
My advice: “When in doubt, get the hell out.”
Clarity? What could be clearer than GTFO?
Not true...None of my grandparents were born here. None of them became citizens and they were listed as aliens on census records.
No “immigrants” are affected by this ruling...
Migrant-invaders, particularly those already or intending to become pregnant, on the other hand, are directly affected...
“Immigrants” are still welcomed to this country through traditional/Constitutional channels...
Hopefully this will stop children of H1Bs from getting citizenship too, or their relatives “visiting” from India or elsewhere who plop off a kid while in town.
Here’s your “clarification”.
GTFO now and take your spawn with you.
L
That sentence sucked. What I meant is, if you are born here, you SHOULD HAVE TO CHOOSE one and only ONE citizenship.
They’re only here for the benefits and “anchor baby” free stuff.
This could affect the “Citizenship Vacation Industry Agents” located in every country around the world who are making a killing off of American taxpayers and give them a real boot in the kazoo.
