One thing's for certain about this Harriet Miers mess: The conservative movement can never, ever play the Bork card again. No more whining about liberals tarring-and-feathering Robert Bork in his 1987 Supreme Court confirmation hearing. For two decades, conservative activists have droned on about their spiritual leader's defeat in the Senate. I think Ms. Miers has been unfairly treated by many who have for years urged fair treatment of judicial nominees. She deserves great thanks for her significant service to the country. She and the president deserved much better from his allies

Those of us who support the nomination of Harriet Miers (even reluctantly) were warned repeatedly that we would be devastated, blown away, and inundated by the Noahide deluge of Hurricane Gamma, George Will's unanswerable final whirlwind of rhetorical devastation of Harriet Miers. I agreed to appear on The Situation with Tucker Carlson tonight to discuss Harriet Miers. I appeared, but we did not discuss Hariet Miers. We discussed, for most of the segment, a couple of paragraphs drawn from Miers' articles for the Texas Bar Association magazine when she was president.
