The Washington Examiner has broken what is, so far, the best story of the year: It turns out that Jill Biden has her own “walk-up” music. That is, whenever she makes an official appearance, this music is played for her, just as Hail to the Chief is played when the president appears. Someone within the Marine Corps band wrote it, although there is some dispute as to whether the White House requested such music or the Marine Corps band members spontaneously felt that Jill needed that special song. Becket Adams broke the story: The Marine Corps band was instructed last...
  • The President is Not The Chief of the Nation.

He is the chief Only of the U.S. military. Our nation has no "Chief" or "Commander." As shown below, the President often behaves as though he considers himself the Commander in Chief, not only of the U.S. Military but of the nation. Others seem to respond to him as though he were. He isn't and the differences are great. Yet Hail to the Chief, played at official and many unofficial presidential appearances, says that he is our Chief and our commander. [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwJvxY7uENM?feature=player_detailpage] Video linkThe lyrics are not usually sung. Here they are: Hail to the Chief we have chosen...

Given that our illustrious President has been tearing down every established tradition of this great nation; has the time come to replace that tired old theme "Hail to the Chief" with something more modern and perhaps appropriate for the Chief Executive of a new era? We could even honor the great Robin Gibb on his very untimely passing. I propose that the next time you see the President makes his way to the dais that instead of the traditional fanfare that instead, "Jive Talking" or "Woman Man" be played.Thank you for your consideration
  • "HAIL TO THE CHIEF" - THAT'S SO TWENTIETH CENTURY

I must admit that when "Hail To The Chief" was played during the Inauguration of President Obama, something about it didn't seem right - and it had nothing to do with the fact that I would have voted for Pete Puma before Obama. It was, rather, a strange uneasiness - or even a sadness, if you will - at what I hoped was just a misguided instinct on my part. All of the typical Inaugural "pomp and circumstance" seemed a touch out of kilter with the new President - as if the ceremonious proceedings were there as good-intentioned recompense to...

Vice President Cheney, Mr. Chief Justice, President Carter, President Bush, President Clinton, reverend clergy, distinguished guests, fellow citizens: On this day, prescribed by law and marked by ceremony, we celebrate the durable wisdom of our Constitution, and recall the deep commitments that unite our country. I am grateful for the honor of this hour, mindful of the consequential times in which we live, and determined to fulfill the oath that I have sworn and you have witnessed. At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For...

It was an historic Thansgiving for Americans, especially those courageously defending our security in Iraq. President George W. Bush successfully completed a secret mission. He went into the belly of the beast, where a plane was shot down with a missle just a few days ago, and had dinner with those who are his heroes. From the cesspool of the Bush-hating political left, the screams of "cheap shameless photo-op" were all too predictable. But, as usual, they are wrong. Those who still gain daily sustenance from democRAT Kool-aid, are outraged. Their blind hatred of a genuine and decent man still...

BUCHAREST, Romania — When President Bush was the new guy at international summits, a lot of world leaders thought a clueless cowboy with a dubious claim on the White House had joined their elite club. They may have a different picture after his visits last week to the Czech Republic, Russia, Lithuania and Romania.
