Ukraine fired 15 cruise missiles at a Russian shipyard in occupied Crimea, hitting a warship in an attack that could further undermine Moscow’s offensive capabilities.French-supplied SCALP missiles struck the Russian vessel stationed at the Zalyv dockyard in the port city of Kerch on Saturday, Lt Gen Mykola Oleshchuk, the commander of Ukraine’s air force said. The warship was armed with Kalibr cruise missiles that have frequently been used by Russia to strike targets inside Ukraine, he added.“I confirm,” Gen Oleshchuk said on Sunday morning after posting a message the evening before which said the Ukrainian attack had probably hit its target.Ukrainian...

A submarine that takes tourists into the depths of the Atlantic to view the Titanic has vanished, sparking fears the five people thought to be aboard may have met a fate similar to those who sailed on the iconic ship. OceanGate Expeditions operates the submersible which drops tourists, who pony up $250,000 for a 10-day adventure, down for hours at a time from a vessel high above the Titanic, which rests some 2.5 miles down on the seabed about 370 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. On Monday, social media was on fire after news broke that the submarine...

Another video only update. Summary: Ship is now pretty much completely pumped out and riding high in the water. 95% of the water has been removed, most of the crews are leaving, they're still chasing small leaks/the remaining 5% of the water. Ship has a tiny list to starboard. The last of the on-board diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids is being removed so it won't continue to pollute. The entire ship is likely going to be getting repainted and they're going to resume cleaning the mussels off the hull. They are now starting to investigate why the ship sank -...

Another video only update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRi8C1Dm6p8 Summary: Pumping is going slowly but well, the salvage crew is moving to some night operations as well as day as they are more confident in the ship's structure and condition now. Ship's list has been greatly reduced, 25-27K gallons of water have been pumped out of the bow section. Artifacts of the Sullivan family, the Juno, and other related items have been removed and placed in dry storage just in case - these items were not exposed to water and will need no restoration.

The video also shows that they were making attempts to deal with the ongoing leaks and hull integrity issues prior to the current incident.

Two anti-whaling activists, one an Australian, were feared missing in Antarctic waters after a clash with a Japanese whaling fleet. A search for the two men was under way after the anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd confronted Japanese whaling vessels in the Ross Sea. International director of Sea Shepherd, Jonny Vasic, said anti-whaling activists from two ships had used high speed inflatables to try to disrupt the operations of the whaling fleet. But a mayday message was issued after radio contact was lost with two activists in an inflatable. One of the men was an Australian from Perth and the other...

Complaint reports catalogue a litany of major problems. Vessels plagued by faulty equipment, lack of spare parts. Hatches that wouldn't close. Rusting battery cables. Wiring schematics that couldn't be found. No spare parts. Torpedo tubes that clamped shut in warm water. Faulty computers. Exhaust valves cracking. A mystery dent. Trouble with the escape tower. Even floors coming apart at the seams. These are just some of the problems Canada's four used submarines encountered before the electrical fire Oct. 5 that killed Lieut. Chris Saunders, crippled HMCS Chicoutimi and caused the sub program to be docked indefinitely. Submarine complaint reports —...
