OK - so I wanted to post a Mitch Albom hit piece - but realized upon trying to post that the Detroit (not so)Free Press is blocked. Now - I at least think I have a clue about the FR problems with materials being posted (although it seems that the sources would be glad to be quoted to increase hits to their own site, and to float the name about... but that is another argument)...And I understand that legal agreements have been reached with several media sources that require only excerpts, while there are apparently some that are completely banned/blocked....

I'm not sure if this is a valid post topic, but I'm having problems getting FR to display properly. Not only the messages, but also this very post as I'm typing are rendering in Microsoft Papyrus Font. This is also affecting a couple of other websites (but not all) and it seems to be random. Im using FireFox v2.0.0.4 and I have already tried going to tools and content and manually overriding the font selection, but it's not working. Naturally the standard fix-all solution, resetting, also did not work. While the Papyrus font is certainly legible, it's somewhat distracting and...

Just wondering why the "Breaking News" side bar is not really "Breaking News"? Some of it is days even a weak old.

I'm starting a ping list with a weekly thread and want to get the opening post all set up and saved so that I can just paste it each week. I don't know how though and need help please.

I usually click on the latest posts link and start scrolling for something that catches my eye, but often the page is littered witht the same thread over and over. Is there any way on my end to only display the same thread once? I usually have to go several pages deep to find where I left off on my last visit as a result. Having said that, the site is still great. Cheers

Question. Is it possible to search Free republic archives on post date? I know you can search for keywords, listing in post date, but can you search and get everything actually posted on a particular date?

<p>Every once in a while I see Freeper lingo I don't understand and have to research to figure out the meaning/background.</p> <p>Today, I thought it would be helpful for newbies (and 'seasoned' Freepers) to have a 'reference' for the lingo specifically related to FR (ie not stuff like LOL etc you can get everywhere else).</p>

Allen In SoCal in now Allen in Texas Hill Country, Kerrville. So how does one change their screen name without losing their history and background? I've been living on FreeRepublic for over 8 years and don't want to lose that history and identity.
