Why is breaking news days/week old
Posted on 07/10/2007 9:08:15 AM PDT by Red_Devil 232
Just wondering why the "Breaking News" side bar is not really "Breaking News"? Some of it is days even a weak old.

My guess is, old stuff slides out of the bottom of Breaking News when new stuff is put on top.
So get busy posting new Breaking News, and you won’t see the old stuff anymore. :)

Some of it is days even a weak old. Just wondering why you wrote "weak" when you probably meant "week".

I think it’s a combination of posters not wanting to accidentally abuse the breaking news sidebar and moderators removing items that they don’t think are breaking enough (ie follow-ups on previously discussed news). Also things that the news agencies count as breaking (Paris Hilton fluff crap) don’t really belong in the breaking news here.
That’s my take at least.

That observation exposes a deep philosophic problem. In the question lies the answer.

Dunno. But I just heard from my friend in NC. It seems that John Edwards is coming back home to Robbins. Wonder if that’s breaking news?
