I see so many people asking to be put on the 'ping list', what does that mean? I also see that you can be 'pinged' if something you are interested in is posted. Are you notified someway? Thanks

Well on a lark I decided to browse to www.freerepublic.com/ with my new Motorola V323 picture phone. What surprised me initially was how simple it was to browse the site. Logging in was simple, browsing messages was fairly easy. I must say, it's nice to know I can check into FR on the road from time to time. Now, unless you have a more functional device than my little picture phone, I will say that responding to posts or posting new threads might be a bit cumbersome, but not at all impossible. Finally, I would like to commend the FR...

THESE ARE THE SENATORS WHO VOTED TO GIVE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO ILLEGAL ALIENS REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL PARTY, THESE POLITICIANS NEED TO BE DEFEATED IN 2006, 2008 OR 2010, WHENEVER THEY NEXT COME UP FOR OFFICE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW; THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES NEEDS TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION -- THAT IS, UNLESS THEY DO NOT MIND SHARING THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY WITH FOREIGN WORKERS WHO NEVER PAID INTO IT AND AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE BEING LEFT OUT. Grouped by Home State Alabama: Alaska: Stevens (R-AK), Yea Arizona: McCain (R-AZ), Yea Arkansas: Lincoln (D-AR), Yea Pryor (D-AR),...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..

I know I've been here a while, but just thought of asking: can I search via "keyword"? The search I've noticed is by "article title"...anyone? rd

I made a screwup, and need to contact a moderator. A guy signed up with the screen name Dr. Richard Kimball. I posted to him, asking him to pick another name, as there might be confusion as to which of us had posted. He was very nice, and did. After making two posts with his new screen name, his privileges were revoked. I think it was because of signing up with multiple screen names. I feel badly about it, because he seems like a nice guy, and I think I accidentally got him banned. Anyway, I didn't want to flag...

Anybody know where I can find the FR Copyright List? My list is an old one and I need to update it. Thanks!

Keywords A "Keyword" search is the best search engine option on FReerepublic.com. Newcomers to FR and longtime users frequently ask for help finding favorite threads or information on a specific topic. When properly "keyworded", an article can be easily retrieved using the "Keyword" search. Keyword searches can be bookmarked for future reference and to monitor current topics. Logged-in users can add keywords to new and existing threads. Performing a "Keyword" search: At the top of the latest articles page, there is a search form. Use the pulldown menu to select "keyword". Type in the search criteria and press the...

Hello everyone. Pleased to meet you. I am your Religion Moderator. I have been asked by several posters to let you know any special guidelines which apply to posting in the Religion Forum on Free Republic. Here goes… First, you should know that all moderators have authority on the Religion Forum and we are individuals and therefore what is tolerable to one may not be tolerable to another. However, I have general responsibility for this particular forum and spend most of my time reading your posts and moderating the conversations. And I do hold Religion Forum posts to a higher...

Hi everyone, it's been awhile since we had a refresher course on the posting guidelines. We've had a lot of newbies sign up. Welcome Aboard! The more the merrier! SEARCH If it's a breaking news topic, check breaking news first, it's probably already posted. Check the breaking news sidebar first. Don't try to be the first one with the story, you've already been beaten by about eight threads. To avoid duplicate posts, please...

Why does Freerepublic not have live bookmarks? They are so nice and convenient. A live bookmark (rss feed) would be perfect for this site. I suggest it be implemented ASAP.

How do I post pictures on my profile page? Thanks.

The U.S. Public Port Industry The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) represents more than 80 public authorities in the United States. These state, county and city government agencies own and develop seaport facilities to handle both domestic and international maritime commerce being imported to or exported from the United States. U.S. ports and waterways handle more than 2.5 billion tons of trade annually. The majority of our nation’s overseas cargo flows through AAPA member ports’ facilities. While some public ports operate their own cargo terminals, many serve as “landlord” ports, leasing portions of their facilities to private terminal operating...

I am just curious what the rules are here. Having a post moved from 'news' to 'blogging' in particular... why would that happen if the story was NOT from a blog. Yet I see fake editorials and polls from the NYT in 'news' all the time. Anyway, just curious it is only a mod's personal feelings about a news site that determines what is 'news' and what is not. Thx.

Welcome Newcomers! This Sandbox is devoted to giving you a place to practice basic HTML, and to get some coaching.
