A new analysis of the U.K. car market shows that consumers’ interest in electric vehicles has fallen sharply amid turbulent local economies, sticker shock, waning government rebates, and a dearth of charging ports. The Daily Mail looked at EV purchases across the U.K., concluding that sales were down double digits in 2023 compared to the previous year. In total, 23 percent of all car sales in 2023 were EVs, representing 71,984 out of 314,687 vehicles sold that year. That’s a steep decline from the 33 percent in sales in 2022, when 88,910 EVs were sold. Trouble on the car lot...

Biden is the God of Hellfire! Forcing Americans to support China. The actual cost of charging an electric vehicle is $17 per gallon, and automakers are losing $36,000 per EV they sell. Its enriches China and makes the US dependent on Chinese batteries and minerals controlled by China. Ford EV sales are almost nonexistant. High prices, big losses per vehicle sold, a dearth of charging stations for travel. At least Biden will say the pain he is causing actually “hurts so good.” Here is California governor and greaseball Gavin “Gruesome” Newsom test driving a Chinese EV on his trip to...

Electric vehicle (EV) sales are up, but that may come with unintended—if not lethal—consequences. EVs pose many problems that are not well-known including potentially dangerous conditions in commercial parking garages and the fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries used by EV's. Electric vehicles are becoming more prevalent, and being scrutinized for their potential dangers, even when they are not being driven. In July of this year a cargo ship caught fire off the Netherlands' coast after 3,500 new vehicles caught fire while in transport. One crew member was killed, and investigators said "the fire started in the battery of an...

The US electric car market continues to grow strongly. Yes, Tesla still dominates (that’s not changing anytime soon), but several other automakers are also seeing fast-growing full electric vehicle (BEV) sales, and the number of BEV options on the market has exploded in recent quarters. Overall (lacking just a little bit of data from automakers who are stingy with their stats), the US electric vehicle market grew 147% from Q2 2021 to Q2 2023. It grew 57% from Q2 2022 to Q2 2023. Let’s dig into the details a bit. As you can see in the chart just above, the...

(By Jon Miltimore, FEE) Ford Motor recently announced it is slashing prices on its F-150 Lightning, an electric vehicle the company rolled out in 2021. The Lightning now carries a suggested retail price of $49,995, about $10,000 lower than its previous recommended price tag ($59,974), a reduction the company says is possible because of lower “battery raw material costs and continued work on scaling production and cost.” It’s certainly possible that reduced overhead from battery minerals and production costs played a role in Ford’s decision to trim its price tag by nearly 20%, but that may be only half the...
