Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich lambasted his Democratic Party as an unethical organization that collectively bolstered a "coma" patient over other contenders in order to advance their own political ends, and that they feature a "Hall of Fame for Liars" headlined by Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. Asked by Fox News’ Jesse Watters about his response to characterizations that Democrats preferred to cover-up former President Joe Biden’s infirmities rather than move on from him or accept President Donald Trump, Blagojevich said, "I’d say that guy hates the American people and hates his constituents and hates even Democratic voters." "Shouldn't we all...

Elvis Presley supports the refugees of the 1956 Hungary anti-Communist uprising. On his last appearance on the Ed Sullivan show on January 6, 1957 Elvis sings Peace In The Valley (a song he promised his Mother that he'd sing for her on the show. It was also a song banned by the communist regime in Hungary) and encouraging donations for Hungarian refugees. Over the next 12 months following Elvis' appearance, they raised about 25 million swiss francs (about 6 million dollars in american money in 1957) As a way of saying thanks to Elvis, 54 years later a free Hungary...

A Missouri woman has pleaded guilty to mail fraud for her role in an alleged scam to steal the Elvis Presley family’s ownership interest in the famed Graceland mansion. Lisa Jeanine Findley, who has gone by various aliases including Lisa Holden and Lisa Howell, initially pleaded not guilty to mail fraud and aggravated identity theft last year. But during a hearing before a Memphis federal judge on Tuesday (Feb. 25), Findley agreed to plead guilty to one count of mail fraud. According to court documents, the other charge — a count of aggravated identity theft — will be dismissed as...

On this day in 1970, Presley formally met Nixon at the White House. The famous photo of the two shaking hands struck a nerve with a number of Presley’s fans at the time, as well as supporters of Nixon. The photo was a pretty big jolt to fans who knew Presley best for his countercultural approach to getting attention: Shaking his hips indecently and performing rock and roll tunes. He had been called everything from “unfit for television” to “a danger to the security of the United States.” He was a countercultural icon for a minute. Nixon, on the other...

A Missouri woman accused of trying to defraud Elvis Presley's family through an attempted foreclosure sale of Graceland has been federally indicted, records show. Court documents show that Lisa Jeanine Findley was indicted on charges of mail fraud and identity theft. Her arrest warrant alleges that she used aliases and email addresses to create a fake company called "Naussany Investments" in an effort to facilitate the fraudulent sale of the famous Memphis landmark in May. Court records allege that Findley claimed Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis' daughter, borrowed $3.8 million from the fake firm and pledged Graceland as collateral. The arrest...

On August 16, 1977, the devastating news that the King of Rock ’n’ Roll had died. I, although just a wee thing, remember my mother and aunt besides themselves, sobbing over a copy of the Daily Mirror. All over the World his death had a profound impact on culture. He had been, and still remains today, one of the most influential characters in the history of popular culture. Not only was his music groundbreaking (before Elvis, Billy Connolly describes all music as being ‘beige’), but his charm, style and swagger permeated Western Culture and brought out the envy in other...

Mark James, the songwriter known for penning such timeless tracks as “Suspicious Minds,” “Hooked on a Feeling” and “Always on My Mind”, has died at the age of 83. James’ passing was first reported by the Houston Chronicle, who noted he died in his Nashville home on Saturday, June 8. James’ career got started in the late ‘60s when he became a staff songwriter for Memphis record producer Chips Moman. While there, he wrote and recorded the song “Suspicious Minds,” however James’ rendition didn’t garner any commercial attention. A year later, Elvis Presley recorded his version of the tune and...

Elvis Presley's granddaughter sent an investment company intent on auctioning off Graceland running. Riley Keough didn't just convince a judge to block the auction of Graceland on Thursday. The actor's legal response scared off Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC for good. Elvis Presley Enterprises (Graceland) labeled claims made by Naussany as fraudulent upon learning they planned to auction Graceland to get back money loaned to Lisa Marie Presley in 2018. Keough's lawyer said the loan never happened and Naussany "appears to be a false entity created for the purpose of defrauding." A quick family tree is necessary to understand...

Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, is attempting to halt the proposed sale of Graceland, the late singer’s home in Memphis, Tennessee. Keough inherited the mansion and much of Presley's estate after her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, died last year. However, Graceland is now at the centre of a dispute with a company that says the compound was used as collateral in a $3.8m (£3m) loan that was taken out by Lisa Marie but never paid back.

Long live the King! The Elvis Presley revival that began with Austin Butler’s Oscar-nominated turn in 2022’s “Elvis” and then continued with Jacob Elordi’s portrayal of the late rock legend in Sofia Coppola’s recent “Priscilla” drama is showing no signs of dying down with a new immersive show that will bring him back to life in an AI hologram. Forty-seven years after Presley’s 1977 death, “Elvis Evolution” will open in London in November 2024 at a theater yet to be announced. And Layered Reality — the UK company producing the event — promises a “jaw-dropping” experience.“The show peaks with a concert...

Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny star in "Priscilla." Photo courtesy of A24 LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Priscilla, in theaters Friday, makes a fascinating counterpoint to last year's Elvis. While not a hit piece, Priscilla explores the power dynamics at play in Priscilla Beaulieu and Elvis Presley's relationship. In 1959, Priscilla (Cailee Spaeny) was a 14-year-old living on the U.S. Air Force base in West Germany, where her father (Ari Cohen) was a captain. Terry West (Luke Humphrey) invites Priscila to come to Elvis' (Jacob Elordi) party while he was in the Army. Terry sells Capt. Beaulieu and his...

It’s election year in Mississippi, and for the first time in a long while, we have a gubernatorial candidate who appeals to Democrats, independents and centrist Republicans. He even has a famous last name that strikes a sweet chord in every Mississippi heart: Presley. Brandon Presley. On Nov. 7, Elvis’s second cousin hopes to unseat GOP Gov. Tate Reeves. I first became aware of Presley when he responded to Reeves’s January State of the State address, which featured the standard chest thumping, calling 2022 “the best year in Mississippi’s history” and railing against “the expansion of ObamaCare.” Presley spoke from...

Pop diva Madonna was born in Bay City Michigan on the 16th august, 1958. On the same date, in 1948 and 1977 , Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley died. A Sultan Of Swat, A King Of Rock and Roll and, arguably, a queen of pop. The Bambino thoroughly deserved his GOAT (greatest of all time) title. To my knowledge, only Bradman in cricket could compare with him in that respect. Until the Beatles came along and reinvented rock as Mersey beat pop music then, on Sergeant Peppers, as a dazzling kaleidescope, Elvis was King, transcending in some but not all...

1. Bloody Mary - Sandusky, Ohio It's said that Mary lives deep beneath the waters of Sandusky Bay, waiting to steal the body parts of young women. We all know the tale about standing in front of a mirror in the dark and saying her name three times, but this is a different legend. The story claims that she fell in love with a young man and when she failed to win him over, she turned to black magic. She lured him to the bay using a beautiful doll she had created by collecting the best body parts from women...

4:00 PM PT -- The toxicology report findings have just been released. There were therapeutic levels of Oxycodone in her blood. A second opioid was found -- Buprenorphine -- which is to treat opioid overuse. Opioids can cause constipation, which can lead to bowel obstruction, which was the cause of her death. There were also traces of Quetiapine, an antipsychotic drug. As for the bowl obstruction, it was in the form of a strangulated small bowel, caused by adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery (gastric bypass) years ago. The coroner says there was no drug paraphernalia or narcotics found at...

~Sam Phillips was born one hundred years ago - January 5th 1923, in Florence, Alabama. If you don't know his name, you've certainly been exposed to his legacy - whether you a) are a rock'n'roll fan; or b) stayed in a Holiday Inn last night. This essay is from Mark Steyn's Passing Parade - but, if you're a Mark Steyn Club member and you'd prefer it in audio-book version, you can find that here: On the day Sam Phillips died, the crowd at the world's (alleged) all-time biggest rock concert, in Toronto, booed and threw bottles at teen heartthrob Justin...

“Elvis’ maternal grandparents were first cousins,” Hoedel wrote of Robert Lee “Bob” Smith and Octavia “Doll” Smith, who married in 1903. According to Hoedel’s book, the deaths were the result of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic condition passed through generations. “It is known from Elvis’ autopsy that he was ‘a carrier’ for this disorder,” the Michigan-based author wrote, stressing that it “can have debilitating outcomes, even as a carrier.” Such “genetic complications” then “impacted [Elvis’] entire life,” Hoedel wrote — saying it “led to poor health, impacted brain function, compromised bodily functions and damaged organs.” While it was written more...
