Lawmakers who pushed the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files are dissatisfied with its latest disclosure of high-profile names mentioned in the three million documents, believing the DOJ is being purposefully vague to protect those with close ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Saturday evening, the DOJ sent a six-page letter to Congress, including the names of celebrities, politicians, businesspeople and more who were mentioned at least once in the files. But the extensive list failed to explain how the people are connected to the pedophile financier and his fellow offender.
Names ranged from President Donald Trump, who was once friends with Epstein but ceased communication before his 2008 Florida conviction, to apparently unrelated figures whose names happen to have been mentioned, like Marilyn Monroe, the Hollywood star who died when Epstein was nine years old, and the singer Janis Joplin, who died in 1970.
“The DOJ is once again purposefully muddying the waters on who was a predator and who was mentioned in an email,” Rep. Ro Khanna, one of the lawmakers leading the effort, said on X.
“To have Janis Joplin, who died when Epstein was 17, in the same list as Larry Nassar, who went to prison for the sexual abuse of hundreds of young women and child pornography, with no clarification of how either was mentioned in the files is absurd,” Khanna added.

It listed names of “politically exposed persons” named at least once. However, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche noted that the lawmakers never defined what that means.
As a result, names such as Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Cher, Beyonce and other notable celebrities are listed because they are mentioned in emails. But that does not mean the individuals had any connection with, or even knew, Epstein.

Actually, including names like Elvis’ is a good touch by Bondi. It emphasizes the reality that you can’t assume guilt or evil actions on the part of someone simply because they were mentioned in those files.

Khanna must not remember that his fellow democrats controlled these files for years. I never heard him demand that Garland release everything.
The democrats had access to and control of these files for years. They blame AG Bondi for a cover up. Funny stuff.

And one of the people involved was a President who it is publicly known was being fellated by a female intern under his desk in the White House. Even with that knowledge, he would have been elected for a third term had he run.
The crimes involved that these types of people have been involved in include statutory rape, or trafficking. Never the other non-sexual crimes such as sedition, conspiracy, bank fraud, theft of government funds via Medicare or Welfare, trading fraud, or even treason from these people, some of them the same people involved with “Pedophile Island”.
This whole thing just stinks to me of “Blood Sport” for the political classes, and “Bread and Circuses” for the citizenry. I think anyone who is fixated on this for judicial reasons is extraordinarily naive, and anyone else fixed on it falls into the Blood Sport or Bread and Circuses category.
I am probably interested in it only peripherally from a Blood Sport perspective, as I enjoy seeing evil people hoisted on their own petards, but I just cannot countenance the time, expense, and effort in running this down. If anyone needs to be told that these people are evil, perverted, malignant, and malicious...well, they haven’t been paying attention at all for decades.
I think we have more important things to do, such as saving this Republic from ruin. Even with all this, it is worth saving. And Epstein Island isn’t going to defeat a single one of those evil people, ever. For them, these kinds of crimes are resume enhancers.

Are they famous? Are they mentioned in the files? Did she have commentary about the significance or context? They are simply famous people mentioned in the files for whatever reason .
For anyone involved in legal matters, it’s often a problem to meet a documentation request.
The request letter is often lacking a Capitalized Definition of key terms and words.
That leaves you with two choices: narrow or wide interpretation.
Both are legit and fair choices.
They went wide here. And it’ll be criticized.
If they went narrow, it’d be criticized.

My complaint with this list is that relevant dates were evidently not added. On July 27, 2006 Jeffrey Epstein was arrested for procuring a minor for prostitution.
Anyone having any contact with him after that date has some SERIOUS explaining to do.
