Elvis Presley supports the refugees of the 1956 Hungary anti-Communist uprising.
On his last appearance on the Ed Sullivan show on January 6, 1957 Elvis sings Peace In The Valley (a song he promised his Mother that he'd sing for her on the show. It was also a song banned by the communist regime in Hungary) and encouraging donations for Hungarian refugees. Over the next 12 months following Elvis' appearance, they raised about 25 million swiss francs (about 6 million dollars in american money in 1957)
As a way of saying thanks to Elvis, 54 years later a free Hungary names Elvis an honorary citizen of Budapest and names a park after him.

Nice bit of history.
My very pretty friend married a handsome man from Hungary a couple of decades older than she was. Charming man, great marriage. He should get a statue.
But Elvis? I detested him and his music. He’s an insult to hound dogs.
Sebastian Gorka. Although the rebellion only lasted for a few days before it was crushed by the Soviet Army, it was enough time to free some political prisoners . Some of them escaped to the West. Two of them married each other and Sebastian Gorka was the result of that Union.

Budapeszt is a lovely city to visit. It actually looks like an imperial city with the monumental architecture.
Nearly half of all Hungarians live in Budapest I think
With only around 10 million for the whole country one big city can do that.
