There will be no after hours at Devils Tower National Monument. The monument abruptly announced Tuesday that, starting Thursday, the monument is no longer open 24/7 and will only be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The change was announced on the Devils Tower Facebook page. The monument, usually open 24 hours a day, will be closed overnight. The National Park Service (NPS) has not provided a reason for the sudden change, and Cowboy State Daily couldn’t reach anyone at Devils Tower National Monument for additional clarification. That includes more information about whether that includes camping at the...

Devils Tower National Monument reopened Wednesday afternoon after clearing more than 200 fallen trees and 5 inches of hail. But the national monument “will never look the same” after huge hailstones pummeled the area. Cleanup continues after a devasting hailstorm that dropped baseball-sized stones at Devils Tower and closed the monument. At the KOA campground near the base of the tower, they've been repairing damage and clearing away more than 200 trees that were downed by the storm. After making international news late last week by announcing he impregnated a 14-year-old girl when he was 18, embattled congressional candidate Sen. Anthony Bouchard, R-Cheyenne, continues to lash out at a colleague who has been critical of him. Bouchard is now claiming that Senate Majority Leader Ogden Driskill, R-Devils Tower, wants him removed from committee assignments in the Wyoming Senate as a result of the revelation. “The RINO establishment led by Sen. Ogden Driskill wants to strip me of committees,” Bouchard wrote on Facebook. “Just like Pelosi did to #MTG (referring to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and U.S....

Journal editorial, 4-12: A tower by any other name By The Journal Editorial Board The superintendent of Devils Tower National Monument has dropped plans to change the monument's name to "Devils Tower National Monument at Bear Lodge National Historic Landmark." Devils Tower name proposal dropped HULETT, Wyo. (AP) - Devils Tower National Monument will remain exactly that, with no additional moniker to recognize American Indians' long association with the monolith. Superintendent Lisa Eckert said she dropped the idea of changing the name to "Devils Tower National Monument at Bear Lodge Historic Landmark" after Wyoming's congressional delegation said they opposed the idea. It was only an idea, Eckert said at a meeting Saturday, and the National Park Service won't seek the
