WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2007 – President Bush praised contributions made by military support groups and veterans organizations at a morning gathering on the White House’s South Lawn today. “I want to thank the service organizations and those who have come together to support our families and our troops,” said Bush, who was accompanied by first lady Laura Bush and a group of senior administration officials that included Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Veterans Affairs Secretary R. Every Friday night, dozens of people gather outside the main gate at Walter Reed Army Medical Facility in Washington to show their support for the wounded troops who are being cared for inside. On Friday, September 15, we joined them. Anti-war protesters from Code Pink were also demonstrating down the street, just as they do every Friday night. By the way, the night’s head count was patriots 109, Code Pink 12.

'Then they had to endure a three-block stretch that was lined with around a thousand flag-waving, pro-American counter-protestors. The marchers at first tried to ignore the interlopers, but their self-control always seemed to break down right around the guy who was singing into a bullhorn “All we are saaaying, is give soap a chance.”

Bryan Preston and I were there to join in, meet fellow Eagles, and film the gathering for a future Hot Air special (see our video report on the first Gathering of Eagles in March here). If you’ve never been to the Walter Reed Friday gatherings, you should really make the time to attend. Folks traveled from New York, Oregon,...

Tomorrow's antiwar protest on the National Mall is going to be so big, it's gotten notorious activist Cindy Sheehan to come out of "retirement." The nutty left-wing organization Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) has coordinated a rally at the White House, followed by a march to the Capitol and a "die-in," where 1,000 people are expected to lie down in front of the U.S. Capitol to symbolize the soldiers and Iraqis who have died in the war in Iraq. It is a tasteless and offensive PR stunt. It's no secret that ANSWER supporters are among the...

The moonbats, or one moonbat and her toddler son, tried unsuccessfully to occupy our corner this week. She lasted about ten minutes before retreating to the traitors' corner. We were busy putting up together the banners on top of the hill when a toddler approached us. I was puzzled but said "Hi" to him and looked around for a parent. She was on the sidewalk holding a sign. Looking closer I recognized the blue & white 60s era "War is not the Answer" sign, peace dove included. I told her "their" corner is on the other side but she was...

WASHINGTON—On Oct. 7, 2001, the United States launched Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Four-hundred twenty-three U.S. troops have died in the conflict as of Aug. 23, 2007. Nearly 1500 have been wounded. Operation Iraqi Freedom began less than two years later when a largely American and British force invaded Iraq to topple then-dictator Saddam Hussein. Hussein was captured on Dec. 13, 2003, but nearly four years later, the United States military remains a major presence in Iraq. To date, 3,706 U.S. casualties have been reported as a result of the continuing operation. And more than 27,000 troops have been wounded....

On Aug 10, FReepers from DC Chapter and beyond, together with friends, held our weekly Friday night support the troops gathering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WR) in Washington, DC. The FReepers had to withstand sweltering humidity and heat, probably about 90 degrees as we got underway at 6:30 pm, albeit nothing compared to the 140 degrees that our troops in Iraq must put up with. We had a black cat attack as will be described below. (Here is a web page with the background of the event, which is also a FReep of the cruel Code Pinko hate...
