Palestinians, Israel fight over repairs of sagging holy site JERUSALEM, Oct. 5 — Israel is moving toward fixing a huge bulge in a wall of the Old City of Jerusalem that archaeologists say is near collapse, threatening to set off a new explosion of Mideast violence. The 35-foot-long protrusion is in the southern wall of the Al Aqsa Mosque compound, around the corner from where Jews pray at the Western Wall. The mosque is built on the ruins of the biblical Jewish Temples and the site is sacred to both religions.
