  • VIDEO: COP15 Conference Erupts Into Hilarious SCTV Chaos

VIDEOWhat started out as a supposedly serious COP15 UN Conference on Biodiversity in Montreal quickly broke down into hilarious chaos. It could have even been a SCTV skit although it was hilariously real. All that was missing was perhaps an appearance at the conference by an angry Johnny LaRue or perhaps Bobby Bittman singing an over-the-top schmaltzy COP15 unity song.

Overregulation: The Senate votes on blocking a government bureaucracy from usurping power never delegated to it by Congress. This administration may put Copenhagen above the Constitution, but we the people have other plans. The GOP's 1994 "Contract with America," a gift that keeps on giving, hopefully will rescue us once again from the clutches of an unelected bureaucracy, the Environmental Protection Agency, which has been allowed by the Supreme Court to regulate every breath we take and every machine we operate. When cap-and-tax legislation was introduced in Congress, the Obama administration threatened that if Congress failed to act, the EPA...

This week brought the Heartland Institute’s Fourth International Conference on Climate Change to Chicago. That may sound like last December’s climate conference in Copenhagen, but this gathering of scientists and policy-makers is unlike any other in the mad and often maddening world of global-warming debate. What separate’s Heartland’s gathering from the more famous Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s doom-fests is that Heartland’s conference actually features a diversity of opinions and conclusions. It’s science the way it ought to be. By and large, the mainstream media does it best to ignore the Heartland conference, since it’s far easier to dismiss something...

Climate Science: Noted scientists at a Chicago climate conference declare that global warming is not only dead, but that the planet faces a big chill for decades to come. What about those frozen wind turbines? It's not exactly Copenhagen or Kyoto, but the 700 scientists attending the fourth International Conference on Climate Change, sponsored by the Heartland Institute, had some chilling news of their own in the most liberal sense. "Global warming is over — at least for a few decades," Don Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University, told the gathering. "However, the bad news is that...
  • Obama Barged Into BASIC Meet to Clinch Climate Deal (Times of India Play-by-Play)

"Oh, you are all here. I had some things to discuss with all of you so it’s good that you are together in the same room,” US President Barack Obama said as he strode into the room where the BASIC countries — Brazil, South Africa, India and China — were holding their last, intensive meetings in Copenhagen. “We really need a deal,” he said. “It’s better that we take one step forward rather than two steps back. I’m willing to be flexible.” And he rolled up his sleeves and sat down. Obama had come to meet China’s Wen Jiabao, in...

Palin blasts 'arrogance of man' in Copenhagen By Michael O'Brien - 12/19/09 10:06 AM ET The now-finished climate change summit in Copenhagen marks the "arrogance of man," former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said this weekend. Palin, who had urged President Barack Obama not to attend the conference in Denmark, blasted the agreement world leaders made late on Friday to begin stemming emissions that contribute to climate change. Palin tweeted early Saturday morning: Copenhgen=arrogance of man2think we can change nature's ways.MUST b good stewards of God's earth, but arrogant&naive2say man overpwers nature Earth saw clmate chnge4 ions;will cont 2 c chnges.R...

Global Warming: Russian analysts accuse Britain's Meteorological Office of cherry-picking Russian temperature data to "hide the decline" in global temperatures. Is Copenhagen rooted in a single tree in Siberia? Michael Mann, a Penn State meteorologist, wrote in Friday's Washington Post that "stolen" e-mails from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit still don't alter the evidence for climate change. Mann, a creator of the discredited hockey-stick graph used in reports from the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to show man-made warming, attacks climate skeptics, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, saying they "confuse the public." Chutzpah has been...

Copenhagen, Denmark (CNN) -- President Obama announced what he called a "meaningful and unprecedented" climate change deal with China and other key nations that was expected to be sealed before the president heads home from the Copenhagen summit late Friday. "For the first time in history, all major economies have come together to accept their responsibility to take action to confront the threat of climate change," Obama told reporters. The president said he met with leaders from India, China, Brazil and South Africa, and "that's where we agreed ... to set a mitigation target to limit warming to no more...

Wait till the headlines adorn our newspapers about the triumph of the man-made global warming fanatics and Obama in coming to a agreement at Copenhagen. Of course, it's non-binding, meaning no one has to do anything: President Barack Obama announced Friday a "meaningful and unprecedented breakthrough" on a global effort to curb climate change. But Obama said, "It is going to be very hard, and it's going to take some time" to get to a legally binding treaty. The ego on this man is blinding. Unprecedented? Dude, it's NON-BINDING! President Barack Obama, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan...
  • Climategate: we won the battle, but at Copenhagen we just lost the war

Copenhagen has been a disaster for the free world and hardly anyone seems to have noticed. We have been distracted by the sweet schadenfreude as the event was overshadowed by the Climategate scandal at the beginning, and the Russian bombshell at the end. And by our delight in seeing the many business interests of the IPCC ’s jet-setting chairman Dr Rajendra Pachauri cruelly exposed. And by the told-you-so satisfaction of seeing it proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the “scientific” process informing the IPCC’s increasingly hysterical reports is corrupt, fraudulent and politically motivated. And by the irony of the snow...

Leadership: Alaska's ex-governor asks a question we'd like answered: Why is California's current governor pushing the same policies in Copenhagen that helped drive his state into record deficits and unemployment? The movie series that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a household name involved cyborgs traveling through time to alternately try to destroy or save one John Connor, who would grow up to be the leader of the resistance against a race of machines that ruled the planet. Prominent in the series was his tough cookie of a mom, Sarah Connor. Another Sarah has taken the lead in another resistance against another group...

President Chavez brought the house down. When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause. When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening. But then he wound up to his grand conclusion – 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus...

The climate change summit in Copenhagen was in jeopardy tonight with the complex negotiations falling far behind schedule as the climate secretary, Ed Miliband, warned of a "farce". With just two days remaining, the inability to overcome disagreements about the shape of a deal to combat global warming led to hours of inaction today , while outside the negotiations police clashed with protesters who broke through a security cordon but failed in an attempt to storm the conference centre. "We have made no progress" said a source close to the talks. "What people don't realise is that we are now...
  • (Mayor of London) Boris Johnson calls on the world to 'stop overdosing on gloom' (Copenhagen)

Boris Johnson has said the Copenhagen climate conference is in danger of failing if environmentalists continue to “overdose” on gloom. The Mayor of London, who is in the Danish capital to speak on greening cities, called for a positive message instead to encourage world leaders to take action against climate change. He said London will lead the way by making sure no Londoner is more than a mile from a charging point for an electric car by 2015. "We need to stop overdosing on gloom and start conveying a message of optimism to people they can improve their lives and...

The world has only seven years before climate change causes a “point of crisis” that will drive food shortages, terrorism and poverty, the Prince of Wales has warned. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the ministerial segment of the Copenhagen climate conference, the Prince said the “survival of the species” was in peril. The talks have been dogged by walk-outs and protests as the poor world becomes increasingly frustrated at the lack of refusal by richer countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Yesterday Yvo de Boer, the head of negotiations, admitted things are moving “too slowly” as pressure grew on...

Arnold Schwarzenegger has called for a “planetary transformation” to save the world from climate change. The Governor of California said an international agreement at Copenhagen will usher in a new era of renewable energy and economic growth through manufacturing green technology. Even if a deal cannot be done between nation states, he said cities and regions such as California are moving forward in transforming their industries and individual lifestyles. And he offered to host a summit for “sub-national governments” such as California and London to make sure climate change is tackled on a regional level. Speaking in the Danish capital,...

The Prime Minister has arrived at the summit promising to make a “final push” for a global deal on cutting carbon emissions. Downing Street signalled Mr Brown is prepared to spend more money on environmental causes to avert what he said would be an economic catastrophe caused by unrestrained global warming. Arriving in Copenhagen, Mr Brown said: "Over the next three days the leaders of almost every nation on earth will gather in Copenhagen. Their role; their opportunity; their responsibility: to shape the future of humanity. It is a defining moment." The Prime Minister flew into the Danish capital two...

Considering he was tying my hands behind my back at the time, Henrik was surprisingly good company. “I like your laptop,” he said. “I want to put one of those on my — how do you say it — Christmas wish list.” He sat me in a line in front of an Italian anarchist and said, by way of goodbye: “I like London. Enjoy your stay in Copenhagen.” Henrik, a Danish riot policeman, had just arrested me. For those climate change activists wondering how the Danish police would deal with a week of planned protests outside the UN climate change...

Justice cannot wait for a deal to stop global warming at the Copenhagen climate conference, Archbishop Desmond Tutu has said. The Nobel Laureate joined an “international climate hearing” organised by Oxfam that allowed 1.5 million “witnesses” to the damage caused by climate change around the world to make their case for action. Witnesses included farmers in Uganda going hungry because of drought and families from Bangladesh affected by floods. Archbishop Tutu said he has seen for himself the effects of climate change in his home country of South Africa. “I too, stand before you as a witness. I have seen...
  • (Scottish 1st Minister) Alex Salmond's nuclear opposition 'threatens climate change targets'

Alex Salmond’s opposition to nuclear power could sabotage targets to cut Scotland’s greenhouse gases by half, a report prepared for SNP ministers has suggested. Released ahead of the First Minister’s visit this week to the Copenhagen climate change summit, the study warned carbon dioxide emissions increased by seven per cent in one year alone, between 2005 and 2006. This was “largely thanks” to the country’s two ageing nuclear plants winding down before being decommissioned, and the energy shortfall being made up by coal and gas plants. However, this cannot continue as new European emission limits and fines threaten the “continued...
