I used to see FR in Arial font. Using this laptop it's in Times New Roman. Very difficult to read and small font size does not help. Searched settings/preferences but no joy. Any guidance to offer? Thanks. Win10.

It's amazing how different the best web browsers actually are. While you may think that every internet browser is the same, there are actually plenty of differences between them - from cosmetic changes to speeds to the way each browser handles your personal data. As such, we've tested a whole bunch of them to see what the best web browser could be for you. With privacy and data management becoming an increasingly important issue, it's vital to know how your web browser is handling and showing your browsing data and history. So we've reassessed our list, taking things like data...

Been using Firefox since v0.8. I was using Opera as a backup browser, but since the *forced* upgrade to Windows 10 20H2, I've noted a background process for Opera that I cannot disable. At least permanently. I find it annoying the number of "assistant" startup processes being forced by applications in Windows 10. Oh sure, you can try and disable them, but they just come back.

The extension is called Big Tech Detective, and after using the internet with it for a day (or, more accurately, trying and failing to use), I’d say it drives home the point that it’s almost impossible to avoid these companies on the modern web, even if you try.

right after the 2nd acquittal of the President, my pi-hole started blocking freerepublic as well as some links on other right wing sites (such as ben shapiro's site.) I whitelisted it but just a heads up to those with pi-holes! If you want a list of my adlists, pm me.

Google controls what the vast majority of the world finds on the internet. Being put at the top of the Google results for search is not only immensely lucrative, it is also almost mind-bogglingly powerful in global affairs. Since 2016, according to multiple reports, Google’s algorithm has been increasingly manipulated to bury and elevate specific information, especially politically charged information. This appears to have strong effects on what people believe and therefore how they vote and respond to polls that inform what politicians do with their power. A 2018 Wall Street Journal investigation concluded, “The internet giant uses blacklists, algorithm...

I used to use Bing as a search engine but haven't in years. I've been using DuckDuckGo, but recently saw something that makes me thing they may have been compromised. Anybody know whether Bing/Microsoft is part of the Deep Tech crap? I also downloaded Brave.com, which seems okay. Any other non-Google search engine suggestions?

Bah... Here’s a no good rotten Vanity! LOL! I downloaded the DuckDuckGo web browser on my IPhone today and have been messing around with it. The app is in the AppStore and downloads and installs like any other app. Nothing uncommon to note. Setup was simple with 2 or 3 settings to enable or not. The descriptions were clear enough on what the settings are for and there’s a click button on the bottom of the Duck’s webpage so that you can change them later if needed. First impressions... So far, so good. It does have a bit different personality...

Ok, I'm getting fed up with the internet and Windows. Windows not-so-much, but under WinXP, the versions of Firefox and Chrome I can run are pretty ancient and I either get hit by tons of ads or it gives me a time error and won't even let me in. So I have an older CD which is Knoppix 5.1 and I am trying to configure it to talk to my modem. If you have had experience with this and have hints/tips, please let me know! TIA!

Mozilla, the developer of Firefox browser, says “more must be done” to rid cyberspace of President Trump and other bad actors. Mozilla argues that banning and permanent removal of bad actors is not enough. Mozilla tweeted out that the unrest at the Capitol was the “culmination of a four-year disinformation campaign orchestrated by the President.”

Do you get this message on your home screen as well? What the heck, nobody leaves you, or me, alone anymore?

I have a Sharp TV. A big aqueous. It has some apps but was showing its age so I got a nice Roku. The Roku has a browser and that is where I want to go to get ustvgo.tv and pluto.tv. The Roku tells me that I need that I need to be connected to a media browser server on the network so that the roku media browser can operate. What is that and where do I get one so I can operate the TV and use this media browser? Last week Roku was calling it just a plain browser....

Tried to log into my TD bank accounts. After clicking on Sign In i get the page with "Hmm. Looks like your browser's a bit out of date." Page is showing 4 icons for latest browser downloads. Hesitant to download any of them. I have 4 windows browsers, all latest versions, working with everything else. Call to TD tech support, they are blaming it on Win 7 being old. Tried computer with Win 10, it worked fine, also with phone access it's OK. If problem is with using Win 7, then TD has a problem. Lot of people and businesses...

Mozilla has been watching the user share of its flagship Firefox web browser shrink for a while, so it was hardly a surprise last week when the company announced it was doing some belt tightening that would result in another round of layoffs. What was a surprise were the numbers involved: The company is laying off about 250 employees, for a staff reduction of 25%, and is completely closing its operations in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition, 60 employees will be shifted to new jobs, and the company will reduce spending on such things as developer tools, internal tooling and platform...

This rusty ol’ internet of ours sure has a lot to offer, but man, oh man, can it be annoying to use. From ad-infested websites to autoplaying videos and an endless array of pop-up provocations, it’s a wonder anyone makes it through the day without going completely berserk. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. With a little fine-tuning and some carefully considered additions, surfing the web can actually become—dare I say it—almost pleasant. All it takes is about 10 minutes of your time, and your desktop browser will be loaded up, tricked out, and ready to give you...

Why does a different list of FR current articles come up Brave vs Google Chrome? Newt article, then Grenell, then (on Brave) Michael Jackson, Covid party, then fact checking whitehouse. On Chrome, the Jackson story and Covid party story NOT THERE! WHY?
