This browser extension shows what the Internet would look like without Big Tech

The extension is called Big Tech Detective, and after using the internet with it for a day (or, more accurately, trying and failing to use), I’d say it drives home the point that it’s almost impossible to avoid these companies on the modern web, even if you try.

This addon does a great job of showing how hard it is to get away from Google, Amazon, Facebook, and the other tech leviathans who've permeated almost every corner of the Internet.

Actually, this addon shows you that it’s almost impossible to use the Internet without the big tech leviathans.

The web and world would be far safer if every webpage could ONLY pull data from its own server. i.e. One pipe for every and all content of a web page.

Its really simple, but the big tech doesn’t want it.

If Google Chrome is popping up every now and then, then you didn’t really uninstall it.

What OS are you using?

I have not used this addon, but based on the pic shown, I would say that NoScript would be a more accurate way of viewing the web.

Rather than locking entire pages, just do not load anything from google, MS, etc.

That's what I do.

So is MS, google, etc.

I don't give money to Stallman, though.

The author says that NoScript does a functional job all the same. This addon was not designed to be a functional implementation of anything, it was just meant to show how prolific are the big tech titans in our modern browsing.

Try running NoScript in strict mode, and you’ll soon find that most websites just don’t work.

I’m reminded of the “Alien” movie franchise. One of the recurring themes of the “Alien” movies was a giant company called Weyland Yutani which ran and owned basically everything. It was evil.

It’s a totally weird reality distortion field effect where 60’s lefties wanting and working personal freedom/liberty and being able to stick-it-to-the-MAN have somehow been transformed into The Fascist Man of today.

It might seem weird, but it's not at all unexpected. The 60's lefties got POWER.

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

"Meet the new boss -- same as the old boss."

forgot to add the effort to stop chromium returning in linix or pi variants

sudo apt-mark hold chromium*

In windows or any other operating system if there are auto update and install settings done then you can delete all you like but as soon as the update starts in the background you have what you do not want back again.

Blessings

Wipe the drive and do a fresh install of the entire OS.

To quote Ripley “nuke the entire site from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.”

It's not that hard. It just takes determination and a strong will..

Down in the cortana search bar (lower right) or just using cortana, search for “Add or remove programs”, which can otherwise be found in System Settings.

If Chrome doesn’t appear in your list of Apps, then go into Control Panel, and under Programs choose “Uninstall a program”. It should appear in the list there. Highlight it and select “Uninstall” from the top row above the program list.
