JUNE 25, 2002, DALLAS -- Traditionally, the day the temporary booths open at gift shows is a slow day for the exhibitors in showrooms. This past Saturday, which was opening day for the temps at the Dallas Market Center, the showrooms saw even less traffic. Why? The one and only Monica Lewinsky was on the 15th floor, selling her handbags for her company, The Real Monica, from its temporary booth. This is The Real Monica's first appearance at a gift show. Lewinsky' label launched as an online business in September 1999, but was quickly picked up by Henri Bendel in...

Student Visas a 'Security Fiasco' NewsMax.com Wires Wednesday, June 26, 2002 WASHINGTON – America's student visa program, under which a Sept. 11 terrorist entered the country, is overrated as an educational system, littered with corruption and fraud and mismanaged by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, a prominent Harvard University expert on immigration charged Tuesday. U.S. Taxpayers Robbed; Foreigners Subsidized George J. Borjas, the Pforzheimer professor of public policy at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, issued an 11-page "evaluation" of the federal student visa system at a news conference on Capitol Hill. The study found "the program is best viewed as...

Furthering the Sodomite Agenda By Russ Brown Barbara Walters, veteran ABC news reporter and talk-show host, recently remarked to a group of homosexuals, "We have done a great many programs about gays and lesbians. We hope that we've opened some minds--and if they're not open, we just don't care." U.S. News.com On ABC's "Good Morning America" Joel Siegel, movie critic, lauded the new picture, "Kissing Jessica Stein" which portrays a young woman who responds to a personal ad in the newspaper. SEC to Auditors: You Blew It FOOL ON THE HILL In the wake of near-weekly accounting scandals, we seem to have reached critical mass in Washington D.C. -- that point in which the power of individual anger finally surpasses that of the big-money lobbying efforts by corporate interest groups. Last week the SEC, run by a man many thought to be squarely in the lap of the big accounting firms, blasted the accounting industry's failure to regulate itself and protect outside shareholders. Bill Mann's initial cynicism about the proposed changes have morphed into anticipation. By Bill Mann (TMF Otter) June...

Okay, so far this evening we've had threads about the Worst War Movie Ever Made and about the Best War Movie Ever Made. Now I will ratchet up the discussions a notch with the BEST Novel Ever Written. Remember this is novel which means FICTION. I exclude science fiction from this category. In my opinion novel writing reached a peak in the late 40s and early 50s. Since then we've had some very good novels but not of the quality of that era. So my nomination for the BEST novel ever written is an easy one: From Here To Eternity...

Sexual Sin By Darren Morrison San Diego California, in the middle of the porn belt of America, a couple had sex games in their garage. These people called themselves swingers. They would meet up with other couples to defile each other’s marriage beds. This is open adultery of the worse kind. This swinger culture is full of sick dark and twisted people who are so self-involved that they get together to have sexual games. Well one such sick couple invited perverted strangers into there home for sex. The sad part is that they had a young daughter. One day they...

Embedded in the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli war is the fundamental question: What is the ultimate Palestinian strategy? We see the tactics unfolding daily, but it is neither clear what the Palestinians expect to achieve nor what strategy links these tactics to their ultimate goal, says Stratfor, the global intelligence company. The suicide bombing campaign, involving both Hamas and Al Aqsa Martyrs, a unit of Fatah, is a well-defined and well-coordinated, mainstream Palestinian movement, not an errant action by splinter groups. Certainly, the Palestinians do not expect to be able to defeat Israel militarily by conducting suicide attacks. Nor do they expect...

Yesterday the president cut through the diplomatic double-speak and expanded on his bold vision for American foreign policy. PRESIDENT BUSH rose to the occasion yesterday. As he did in his speech to Congress on September 20, in his State of the Union address on January 29, and in his West Point speech on June l, he rose above the morass of diplomatic double-speak and the in-fighting of his own administration, left behind the tired and failed formulas of the past, and charted a new course for American foreign policy. It is important to put yesterday's speech in the context of...

For Democrats, faith, politics can clash Diocese bars Sanchez, Sharp from speaking because of their support for abortion rights By Ken Herman AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Tuesday, June 25, 2002 The brief, silent pause between the end of the question and the start of the answer spoke volumes about the delicate balance between religious piety and party loyalty. "That's a very difficult question," Democratic governor candidate Tony Sanchez said when asked if Catholicism, his religion, is wrong on abortion. "But I think the only thing that is really important to me is how I think about abortion. I consider myself a devout...

With 78% of the vote in, it would look like Rep Earl Hillard is heading to defeat this evening by a young African American Lawyer by the name of Artur Davis in the Democrat run-off election. Rep. Earl Hillard this weekend in brought in the heavy guns of Al Sharpton and Danny Glover to turn out key voters in his mostly African American District. Hillard Supporters have sought in recent days to take on the tactic of blaming the jews, since most of Mr. Davis's money has come from out of state and in large part from wealth jews donors...

If Something Doesn’t Sound Right, It Usually Isn’t It Doesn't Sound Right To Talk About Our "Homosexually Oriented" But Celibate Priests By Gary L. MorellaComments?: editor@DioceseReport.comJune 25th, 2002The position of Cardinal Bevilaqua's Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the exclusion of those who are inclined to homosexual acts from seminary regardless of whether the act is committed or not, is the only tenable position for the Church. If you compromise on this, you compromise on everything. I’ve seen where some in the Church have made the suggestion that those men who have a “homosexual orientation” could still be considered for the priesthood if that...
