For years, one of the favourite pastimes of Britain's bien-pensant establishment has been to laud France, often at the expense of this country. In their telling, France is seen as progressive and smart, the apex of European culture and the master of infrastructure, while these islands are condemned as parochial. But the scenes from France in recent weeks have surely put paid to that fantasy. France's decline is obvious and largely of its own making. Socialist economics has led to stagnant growth, punishing taxes and a state that consumes well over half of national output. A profligate pensions system, with...

Friday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke optimistically about Republicans’ chances in the November 3 midterm elections, declaring that the GOP nominee for his state’s open U.S. Senate seat was going to win. In a joint appearance with Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Cruz said a “hostile takeover” of the Democratic Party by communists and Islamists was underway. “Senator Cruz, I want to turn real quickly to Texas,” guest host Charlie Hurt said. “You know, we’ve seen a lot of these polls showing Talarico and Ken Paxton within the margin of error. In the past, you have...

We’re in the eighth month of an on-and-off war, as we all know, with Iran, and since 2022, we have been watching Ukraine and Russia fight, and we have been supplying Ukraine. And one of the problems with these multifront wars, and we have been conducting operations against Iran as well as helping Israel supply its forces against the Houthis, Hamas, Hezbollah. Part of the problem is that in Ukraine, in Iran, in the Middle East, we have now, because of the use, cut our inventories of Patriot missiles by about 25% or 30%. And remember, we export them all...

A billionaires’ tax pushed by radical leftists such as Sen. Bernie Sanders on California’s ballot next month — and with “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ready to take the idea national — a furious, freak alliance of enemies has formed to try to kill it. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is locking arms with furious Republicans, Hollywood elites, and Silicon Valley tech titans to crush the Golden State tax hike before it starts. Proposition 40 would slap a one-time 5% surtax on the wealth of California billionaires and send most of the money to healthcare, to be paid beginning in 2027 in...

Explanation: Put on your red/blue glasses and float next to the jagged and double-lobed nucleus of Churyumov-Gerasimenko, also known as Comet 67P . The stereo anaglyph was created by combining two images from the Rosetta spacecraft's narrow angle OSIRIS camera taken on July 25, 2015 from a distance of 184 kilometers. Numerous jets are emanating from the small solar system world's active surface near its closest approach to the Sun. The larger lobe is around 4 kilometers in diameter, joined to a smaller, 2.5 kilometer diameter lobe by a narrow neck. Rosetta's mission to the comet ended in September 2016...

Late in the second quarter Saturday at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, No. 7 Texas was up 14 points on a Florida team in free fall. The Gators, ranked as high as No. 8 earlier this month, were coming off back-to-back blowout losses, the second of which was handed to them by a South Carolina squad that was previously winless in SEC competition. To top it off, Florida arrived in Austin with its QB1 nursing a shoulder injury that he suffered in that disheartening setback to the Gamecocks.

By Dr. John BergsmaReligion and politics are a volatile mix, such that the old dictum was, these were the two topics one should not raise in polite conversation. The readings for this Sunday are concerned, in part, with the interaction of religion and politics, in the rule of God vs. the rule of men. The Scriptures affirm that despite appearances to the contrary, ultimate control of human history is in the hands of God. Human rulers have their place, but even they are ultimately instruments by which God guides human affairs. In the midst of the chaos that is human...

Things are getting increasingly wild in the ongoing, multifaceted investigation into Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05). When you bring DNA evidence into the fray, you'd be right to wonder if something beyond the initial reports is happening behind the scenes. Federal agents, according to multiple sources who spoke with NewsNation, searched discarded trash in hopes of obtaining DNA from Omar and her family before raiding her Washington, D.C. home this week. The sources state that any potential DNA evidence obtained "is critical to the investigation" into the Squad member. It's unclear how such evidence would factor into the case, but...
