Central banker Mark Carney is doing that peculiar Canadian thing again — acting tough while exuding weakness. Just before midnight on Friday, the former governor of the Bank of England and King Charles III’s current prime minister in North America announced that trade talks with the United States had collapsed. This was expected, even though the Canadian and American trade delegations had publicly expressed optimism on Wednesday that a mutually beneficial framework for future trade relations was within reach. The British Empire’s “climate change”-obsessed central banker announced the official start of the U.S.-Canada Trade War on his X account. That’s...

At least 30 people were killed in a massive landslide in Guinea on Sunday when a mountainous open-air landfill collapsed and buried nearby shacks, trapping numerous victims beneath a mass of garbage. The incident happened at Dar Es Salam, the largest waste dump in the West African country’s capital, Conakry, according to a report from The Associated Press. Guinea News reported that the weight of the waste caused a three-story building beneath it to cave in. Authorities said heavy rainfall also washed over the refuse overnight, creating hazardous conditions at the landfill, according to the AP Six people were seriously...

As a Greek-American, I went to see The Odyssey three weeks ago with eager anticipation. At the time, the Rotten Tomatoes scores had dropped into the 60s—significantly down from the high 90s where they started. I ended up walking out after 90 minutes. Two other couples had already bailed around the one-hour mark. Only one guy remained sitting up in high right corner of the theater. It was clearly the worst movie I have ever seen, and after 70 years of watching movies, that says a lot. My brother, who still lives in Chicago where we grew up, saw it...

After Anthony's lawyers tried to argue that the trial was unfair to Anthony because there were no black people on the jury, among other reasons, a Texas judge dismissed the request with no hesitation. A Texas judge has denied a bid for a new trial for Karmelo Anthony, who had been sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally stabbing a fellow student at a high school track meet. Retired Kaufman County District Judge Michael Chitty denied Anthony's motion for a new trial, which had alleged in part that a 'gentleman's agreement' between the trial attorneys impacted his ability to...

We admit it: It’s just delicious to see so many “commie cosplayers” exposed as frauds — and the hits keep coming. It turns out DSA-NYC co-chair Gustavo Gordillo not only has his parents paying for massive renovations of the $1.5 million home they bought for him and his brother in Bed-Stuy, he’s also using non-union labor for the work — and the local community board opposed the re-do plan as creating a structure out of whack with the block, with experts saying the planned “beach house” clashes with the historic district’s vibe. Then again, Gordillo got suspended from the IBEW...

Washington views Quebec’s provincial language statutes—specifically Bill 96 (revising the Charter of the French Language) and Bill 109 (affirming cultural sovereignty and digital discoverability)—as unfair trade barriers and irritants that burden American companies. Bill 96: Overhauls commercial and legal language use, requiring French labeling, product descriptions, warranties, and instruction manuals, alongside trademark translation adjustments for businesses.Bill 109: Targets digital platforms and streaming services (such as Netflix and Spotify), mandating that interfaces accommodate French configurations and allowing potential local content quotas. The U.S. had issues with Canada's subsidies for French culture; the prevalence of French-language media online and even the requirement...

We've been reporting on the various people contemplating or being talked about as possible 2028 candidates to run for president in the Democrat Party. The names being kicked around are a festival of failure, including California Gov. Gavin "Hairgel" Newsom, the "don't ever call me Border Czar" Kamala Harris, and the thirsting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14). But now those people may have company, because guess who is confessing he's "kicking the tires"? Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD). He said to Meet the Press anchor Kristen Welker that he had been considering running in 2028, that he'd been to New Hampshire...

There are cases where the law tells you what happened but leaves out almost everything that explains why it happened… and that can be very troubling, and you go straight into the weaponization pool. Shana Gaviola’s case feels like one of those situations. The federal government’s version of this case is brutal and really straightforward. They say Gaviola violated a restraining order involving her teenage son, arranged to have him taken from California to a Christian boarding school in Missouri, and the people transporting him kept him handcuffed for more than 24 hours. She broke the law, a jury convicted...

"[Love] bears all things" (1 Cor. 13:7). Love confronts sin but protects the sinner. In 1 Corinthians 13:7 Paul mentions four qualities of love that are closely related: bearing all things, believing all things, hoping all things, and enduring all things. That might sound like love is indiscriminate and accepting of anything that comes along, but "all things" in that verse is qualified by the context. Love rejects jealousy, bragging, arrogance, and so on (vv. 4-6), but it bears, believes, hopes, and endures all things that are within the parameters of God's Word. "Love bears all things" speaks of love's...

A man who killed two rescue workers in a head-on DUI collusion is about to be paroled from prison after serving less than half his sentence — unless Governor Gavin Newsom steps in to stop it. I was in the rescue vehicle that day, and I barely survived. I’m speaking out because my colleagues can’t. On July 17, 2004, the San Gorgonio Search and Rescue Team was en route to search for a missing 17-year-old male in Joshua Tree. A driver, Joseph Tidwell, 35, was under the influence of methamphetamine when he passed out, crossed the center line, and struck...

Iran’s supreme leader is under mounting pressure over the war — as the regime’s grip on the Strait of Hormuz weakens, cash finally starts to get tight and top political leaders publicly urge the Islamists in charge to find a way out of the conflict. The latest phase of the conflict has seen more and more ships quietly slipping through Hormuz, with nearly 200 vessels sailing through the strait last week, according to data from the UK Maritime Trade Operations Center. The flow represents a 400% spike in the last two weeks, with maritime analysts Kpler noting that the traffic...

Daily Readings from the USCCBFeast of Saint Bartholomew, ApostlePhilip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.” But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” John 1:45–46The name “Bartholomew” is listed in the Synoptic Gospels as one of Jesus’ chosen Twelve Apostles. His name means, “son of Tolmai.” In John’s Gospel, he is traditionally identified as Nathanael. It’s possible that his full name was Nathanael, son of Tolmai. In John’s Gospel,...

PJ Media is a right wing website. It’s not considered to be part of the mainstream media, and you certainly can’t cite it as a source when adding content to wikipedia. That being said, I am a long term reader of PJ Media, and I tend to view most of what it publishes as being credible. I certainly don’t have anything against the website.PJ Media has published what it claims are photographs, school records, and other documents which, when taken together, “prove” that Ilhan Omar married her brother in order to commit immigration fraud. You can read these PJ Media articles and...
