The times, they are a-changin', as then-folk music troubadour Bob Dylan once sang about the radical era America found herself swimming/wading through in the Sixties. You could say the same thing about whatever they end up calling this era, and the second Trump administration at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Readers may have seen some of our pieces - so far on Wednesday - covering the Cabinet meeting open to the media. Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent, per a Playbook report on the team meet-up, explained that "The continued resilience of the economy speaks for itself, even during the Iran — the conflict."...

Texas Democrat James Talarico also believes "God is nonbinary" and that Jesus Christ was a "radical feminist." The Texas church where Democrat James Talarico has delivered his radical sermons is pushing radical gender ideology on children, featuring books filled with sexually explicit content and transgender ideology. Talarico, the Democrat nominee for the crucial Senate election in November, attends St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Austin. There, children have access to a library stocked with “banned books” that promote ideas rejected by most Christians, including books that contain descriptions of anal rape, incest, and oral sex, according to a Daily Wire review...

For those who were impressed with how Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. handled two black snakes at Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz’s house over the weekend, he definitely upped the ante. In a video posted on Wednesday, RFK can be seen removing a rattlesnake, presumably from his home in Los Angeles. “In response to the many comments about venomous snakes, this video shows how Cheryl and I handled a recent rattlesnake rescue,” Kennedy captioned the newly-posted video. https://twitter.com/i/status/2059748137506418787

China has instructed its major domestic banks to limit their purchases of U.S. Treasury bonds and sell off existing holdings. While this stops short of a complete legal ban on all cross-border investment, it marks a substantial drawdown of China's exposure to U.S. debt and a pivot away from U.S. financial assets. In this video, we break down Beijing’s quiet but massive crackdown on mainland Chinese investment into U.S. stocks and bonds, why eight Chinese regulators coordinated the move together, and how it connects to a much larger long-term strategy involving gold, payment systems, energy trade, and the future of...

Canada has announced plans to buy a fleet of early warning planes from Sweden’s Saab rather than a competing option from Boeing, as the country seeks to reduce reliance on US defense firms. Mark Carney, the prime minister, said on Wednesday that Canada would opt for Saab’s GlobalEye, which is based on Bombardier’s Global 6500 jet. Boeing’s E-7 Wedgetail plane – which has suffered from delays and cost overruns – had also been in contention. “With a suite of advanced sensors and mission systems, Saab’s GlobalEye will be a key resource for the Canadian armed forces to detect and deter...

CBS News has parted ways with longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi after declining to renew her contract. The split comes months after Alfonsi clashed with CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss over a segment about conditions inside El Salvador’s CECOT prison involving deported migrants and President Trump’s administration. The Trending Politics report laid out the contract decision and the internal fight that preceded it: Alfonsi’s deal expired over the weekend, and CBS chose not to renew it after nearly two decades with the network and more than a decade on 60 Minutes. The exit followed a high-profile fight over a CECOT...

The Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into E. Jean Carroll, the former magazine columnist who accused President Donald Trump of sexual assault, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The investigation is focused on whether Carroll committed perjury in testimony tied to her two civil lawsuits against the president – one alleging he sexually abused Carroll in a New York department store in the mid-1990s, and a second for defaming her when in 2019 he repeatedly denied the assault, said she wasn’t his type and claimed she made it up to boost sales of a book. Prosecutors’...

The Republican National Committee celebrated a recent court ruling Wednesday that determined the North Carolina state board of elections violated the state constitution by allowing non-residents to vote in federal elections. The Wake County Superior Court sided with the RNC in the ruling Tuesday after the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled last year that people who have never lived in the state cannot vote in state elections. The state stopped nonresidents from voting in state elections in the wake of the state Supreme Court ruling, but did not change its policies when it came to federal elections. “This is a...

Gloom and doom is everywhere these days—-except in the economic data or in business planning meetings. Surveys of consumers suggest that these are the worst of times. The University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index keeps hitting all-time lows. The Economist/YouGov poll shows 63 percent of Americans say the economy is getting worse, including a third of Trump voters. Eighty-four percent of Democrats say we are either already in a recession or likely to be in one in the next 12 months. Businesses aren’t seeing it. The Atlanta-Fed released its latest Survey of Business Uncertainty on Tuesday, and the results are...

Ready to go. It’s time to take back Texas.”

Moo-ving onto greener pastures. An albino buffalo that went viral for its striking resemblance to President Donald Trump was spared from slaughter at the annual Islamic feast of sacrifice on Wednesday — and rehomed in a zoo. The buffalo, which jokingly earned the name “Donald Trump” after its fetching coiffed blonde combover went viral, was slated to be killed during Eid al-Adha this week. The animal’s owner, 38-year-old Zia Uddin Mridha, sold it before it became a certified tourist attraction weeks before Eid. Federal authorities in Bangladesh intervened at the eleventh hour, saving the buffalo from certain death. They cited...
